Why have I chosen Nursing?
The field of nursing at present is accompanied by a number of dynamic organizational
changes which have further expanded the scope as well as responsibilities of nursing beyond
merely the alleviation of disease symptoms in a patient. Nurses at present are required to exhibit
a wide range of capabilities including delegation, leadership, as well as ensuring positive health
outcomes for not just the patient but also for everyone in the community and the concerned
nation. Hence, this wide and interesting scope of expertise and duty is what intrigued me into
choosing the field of nursing.
Hence, I have chosen the field of nursing due to due to my inherent desire to contribute to
the development of a healthy community and assist individuals not only in the eradication of
disease, but also in the enhancement of their health literacy through health promotion.
Considering this desire, I have chosen the field of nursing because this field has inspired my
desire to not only treat individuals for the recovery of their disease conditions but also engage in
the nursing value of forming and engaging in caring and collaborative relationships. Hence, I
worked extensively, in the fulfilment of my inherent desire to fulfil this nursing goal by
volunteering in various aged care heath and community centers where I engaged myself in
forming caring and collaborative relationships with the elderly patients by forming personal
connections, assisting them in daily activities and involving them in various tasks for skill
enhancement.
An additional reason which ignited my desire to engage myself in nursing, is the scope
for exhibiting leadership qualities which this field provides. I have always possessed the desire to
delegate, lead and guide people for the fulfilment of a collective cause, and nursing is the most

fitting field which will allow to exhibit and improve this nursing value of leadership. Hence,
considering this personal goal of fulfilling the nursing value of leadership, I worked extensively
as a Food Safety Manager in an eatery, where I actively communicated and lead the associated
staff in serving quality and nutritious food by complying with accredited standards.
Hence, the above mentioned dreams and desires of fulfilling and adhering to these core
nursing values, have aspired me to engage myself in the field of nursing. In addition the
extensive work experience which I engaged in previously, I believe that this nursing acceleration
application, will further enhance my skills for the fulfilment of the core nursing values of
leadership and formulation of caring and collaborative relationships.
Aspirations for Nursing
Today’s world requires disease management limited to not just the level of the individual
patient, but also at the community and national level. For this, in addition to disease treatment,
nurses must also engage in imparting health education and training to the citizens which will not
only improve their levels of health literacy but will also contribute to the overall development of
a healthy nation. Hence, this essential nursing duty of leadership and education, for ensuring
improved community health outcomes, further aspired me to choose the field of nursing. Hence,
considering the above, I believe that this nursing acceleration program will be ideal in the
fulfilment of this personal aspiration.
