Question 1:
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are also known as the global goals that aims to
reduce or end poverty and also ensures that each and every individual might live their life with
peace and prosperity.
The SDG goals have several goals that help in improving the health condition of the
individuals well as allows them to live a quality life. This initiatives is taken by the government
of the United Nations in order to replace the millennium success goals. In the SDG, there are
total 17 goals that aims to improve the standard of life. These Sustainable Development Goals
which include, no poverty among the population, zero hunger, good well-being, quality
education, gender equality, clean sanitation along with water, clean and affordable energy,
decent work and economic growth, innovation, industry and the infrastructure, reduced
inequalities, sustainable communities, responsible consumption along with production, climate
action, life beneath the water and on the land, justice and peace, and partnership for the enhanced
achievement of the goals (UNDP, 2019).
In order to achieve the goals, the nurses also play an important role. The 3rd SDG goals
which is ensuring the health and wellbeing of each and every individual, consist major role in it.
3rd goal of the SDG among all the goals have direct impression of the nurse’s action. However,
the way of delivering work by nurse also has a major impact on the poverty and education which
are also considered as the social health determinants (SDH). During providing care to the patient
in order to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of the patient, the nurse also addresses the
social determinants of the health as they know the relation between the condition of the
population and their health (Rosa, 2017). One of the main principle of the nursing which is to
enhance the health outcome of the population, is one of the 17 goals of the SDG and as
