Research Design:
The research design adapted by the researchers was mixed method study design. The
data was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews with the senior charge nurses of
NHS hospital. To perform the survey, 15 senior charge nurses and other workers were
recruited. The participants were recruited for the study on the basis of voluntary participation.

In the study, semi-structured interviews were performed in order to achieve
a qualitative analysis of the data.
NHS hospital and their 15 senior charge nurses with 11-38 years of work
experience.
Participants were interviewed about their work days to gain knowledge
about their activities, their leadership behaviours, and the impacts of their
behaviour on the safety outcomes using Yuki’s Managerial Practice Survey.
The interview results were collected and compared to achieve a qualitative
data reflecting the behaviour and leadership qualities of the senior charge
nurses.
Result: It was observed that they were mainly involved in task and relation oriented

behaviours. It was also seen that the nurses were linked to supportive
behaviour to reduce the infection rate and other safety measures (Agnew &
Flin, 2014).
Conclusion: The research provides data on the usability of the MPS questionnaire and
reflects the leadership behaviour of senior charge nurses in keeping the
ward environment safe.
