NURSING ASSIGNMENT1
Answer 1
As per the Roy Adaptation Model of nursing, health is termed as the primary and
inevitable aspect of human life that helps to develop a connection between the health and
illness (Martinel et al., 2016). In this case study, Sgt. Eddie is unable to understand the
complexity of his health condition, and it was observed that he is hoping that the doctors
would provide him clearance to work, however, his health condition is severe as he is
suffering from a traumatic brain injury and a broken leg. Hence, in such condition, the patient
should be provided with effective treatment, application of Roy Adaptation Model would
help the nursing professionals to six steps of adaptation model and they would be able to
include the patient in the critical care method (Turner & Kaylor, 2015). Further, with the
application of the patient’s personal values and opinions, the implicit assumptions of the Roy
Adaptation Model would be implemented in the care process.
Answer 2
Self-concept is the theory, as per which it is the individual’s belief and thought about
themselves and mentions of the personal attribute of the person that makes them feel what
they are in person (Saini et al., 2017). After the severe accident of Sgt. Eddie, his self-concept
made him think that he is suffering from minimal injury and with time he would be able to
overcome his health condition (Alimohammadi et al., 2015). However, his traumatic brain
injury and multiple fractures in the leg would require further care and treatment and hence,
with the application of adaptation model of nursing, the patient would be able to understand
the importance and complexity of his care process (Roy, 2018). Application of the Roy
Adaptation Model of nursing in the case of Sgt. Eddie, nurses would be able to evoke the
passiveness of the social, emotional and psychological aspects and hence, the patient would
be able to receive extended healthcare interventions.
