1NURSING ASSIGNMENT Part 1 Registered nursing is the aspect which involves preventative, formative, restorative, and supportive as well as curative elements so that the patients could be provided with person-centered and evidence based care (Atefi et al., 2014). As per the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (2017), registered nurse associated practice is the endeavor that requires the professionals to implement critical thinking and analyze their professional situations so that they can develop thoughtful insights and develop constructive relation with their profession and associated patients. I am currently a nursing student in (add the healthcare facility’s name) and in my daily professional life face situations where the nursing principles of NMBA need to be complied with to improve my practice and associated patient’s condition. However, while thinking about my development in past two years I was able to understand the range of my improvements and the skills I have developed to care for patients since the commencement of my nursing education. Unlike few of my contemporary student nurses, I was completely unaware of the nursing process and after completing my high school I enrolled to this course without knowing the role of nursing professionals, the skills I need to possess in order to become a compassionate care professional. However, I was not complete naïve about this profession, the initial training and education surprised me and made first few weeks of my profession little difficult. Besides all the confusion and dilemmas, one thing I was clear about my career that I wanted to serve the society and wanted to be referred as a registered nurse. Due to compassion towards children, I wanted to become a pediatric nurse and wanted to see myself develop in this particular region only. In the current situation, I see myself grow as a pediatric nurse and work with children as
2NURSING ASSIGNMENT I feel I acquire the strengths and skills which is required to become a successful pediatric nurse (Bowling, 2015). Hence, using my strengths of ability to communicate, ability to develop rapport with children, understanding of their concerns I strategize the care process which helps children to improve their health. I feel confident that these strategies will help me to develop myself as a pediatric nurse in future. Therefore, my vision as a future pediatric nurse would be sustaining my communication skills and use compassion and care as my sole strategy to care for children (Cowen, Hubbard & Hancock, 2016). For this purpose, two nursing standards of NMBA would help me to improve my practice and these arestandard 4which allows comprehensive conduction of assessment andstandard 5that helps to develop care plan as per the need of the patients (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, 2017). These standards will help me to develop both clinical and non-clinical relationship with my patients and I will be able to provide safe, comprehensive, effective and regulated care that will improve my professional skills. Therefore, I will use the standard 4 and standard 5 of the NMBA guidelines while working as a pediatric nurse, caring for children (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, 2017). Part 2
