MDT nursing care:
Multidisciplinary group (MDT) is a health care unit of expert’s medicinal services
workers who are specialists in various fields with different expert foundations, joined as a group
to plan and actualizing treatment programs for complex ailments. They work in a planned way
with individuals who are chosen into the group contingent on the patient's needs and the
condition or infection is dealt with. MDT, by and large, comprises of a going to doctor, an
enlisted medical attendant, and other suitable staff (Smart et al., 2018). MDT is utilized
conversely with another term, interdisciplinary group. Your MDT members examine the patient
case and that particular disease specialist and clinical nurse specialist will talk to you and tell you
about your problem and suggest you in deciding what treatment is the best at a time. The entire
MDT members who are from the different areas provide a specific service to the patient who is
in the emergency department, because in the case of emergency one specialist is not enough to
review the all systems of the body that’s why there is team of the specialist who is examined
different areas of the body to finding the accuracy for the treatment needed for the patient. As in
the case of 83 years old Harold Blake, he has the episode of angina and immediately admitted to
the emergency department (ED) where the already the member of MDT are present to treat his
condition. So, here is the list of the members of an Angina MDT.

A doctor who is an expert’s in the heart treatment other than surgery. Here, Harold is
reviewed by DR. Lina. Dr Lina recalls that last night when I examined the Harold, he is the alert
and mobile but currently he doesn’t orient to the time, person and place and unable to follow
simple commands.
Radiologist-
A doctor who is the experts in the diagnosing medical condition with the help of images
Like CT scan, x-ray etc. Dr Lina orders the nurses for CT scan of head along with repeated
troponin level to prevent myocardial infarction.
A speech-language pathologist (SLP) –
Speech pathologist has been referred to Harold by Dr. Lina for neurological observations.
Mr. Blake’s neurological condition was detoriated gradually. He had difficulties to stand up; his
speech was slurred and drooling also. He was unable sit upright, sometimes he obeyed easy
commands also.
Code stroke team-
A group of the experts available in the ED(Emergency Department) to facilitate the
finding and treatment for the patient. So, In this case, within around 20 minutes, the team
consisting of Lisa Harrison (stroke unit nurse coordinator), Dr. Jim Jones (stroke medical
consultant) and Dr. Jane Keys (stroke medical officer) comes in the ED to check Harold.
Neurologist-
Mr. Blake so require the neurologist because after the scanning his bladder. He required
the intravenous therapy.

Rationale of this case study:
On the second day, the overall review by the DR. Richard Sangovese. As after examining
the Harold by the code stroke team the report says that he doesn’t need any surgeon to operate
and start a dose of vitamin k ordered. But the next day the condition of his heart detoriated. He
felt severe chest pain again and started vomiting repetedly. He becomes fainted at the bathroom 3
to 4 times. In such case after the detailed observation and examination the medical team decided
to o angeoplasti to him as he again got affected with two severe stroke. Nurses are orderd to take
special care to him and keep him under 24 hour’s observation.
In case of his speech problem after the brief consultation with the neurologist and the
brief neurological observation his condition was getting better. As you see to solve the case of
Harold there is the team of the specialist who is going to evaluate and suggesting the treatment
for the patient. These all core member including the nurse are the member of the
Multidisciplinary Department team (Morley, Hardie & Dhallu, 2018).
