There are several ways by which the women can prevent osteoporosis
and some of preventive measures to avoid osteoporosis are as follows:
Following a healthy and varied diet that would contain ample amount of
fresh vegetables, fruits as well as whole grains.
Consumption of the calcium-rich foods
Avoid smoking
Limited alcohol consumption and consumption of caffeine
Engaging in various strength training and weight bearing exercises.
Exercises for prevention of Osteoporosis
The exercises are considered to be one of the most effective ways for
the prevention of osteoporosis. There are some of the exercises that
increases bone density and they are as follows:
Some of the weight bearing activities that promotes bone growth
includes brisk walking, swimming, cycling and others. The patients
should avoid sitting idle for considerable amount of time.
The strength training or the resistance training is also one of the
important exercises for maintaining the bone health. It has been
identified that the strength training plays a significant role in improving
the mineral bone density of the bones (Cesarec, 2014).
Medications for the treatment of Osteoporosis
Some of the medicines that are effective for the treatment
of the osteoporosis includes bisphosphonates, selective
oestrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), denosumab,
menopausal hormone therapy and others (Panday, Gona &

patient is discussed related to the
effectiveness of the actions available
to reduce the threat of osteoporosis
(Jeihooni et al., 2015).

refers to the feelings of the patient
of osteoporosis about the barriers or
obstacles related to performing
recommended health action against
the disease.
Cue to action – This constructs
provided the stimulus for the patient
suffering from osteoporosis to accept
the recommended health action plan
against the disease.
Self-efficacy- This construct focuses
on the level of confidence that is
possessed by the patient of
osteoporosis regarding successfully
performing a behaviour related to
prevention of osteoporosis.
