1 NURSING ASSIGNMENT Area of practice: For the fall prevention, the most efficient area of practice is the geriatric nursing home as it is most commonly observed in case of older adults (Sherrington et al., 2018).Exercise program and the fall prevention program helps to create awareness regarding the fall prevention strategies which will help to reduce the risk of fall in older adults. Background: Fall is commonly observed in case of older adults. According toBergen (2016), one third of the total population of age group between 65 years and above suffers from fall every year and the rate is increasing day-by day. Fall is considered as one of the leading source of injury which is related to death or require hospitalization. An elder person is more likely to fall as compared to the adult individual. It is expected that, the number of fall will increase to around 41.4 billion by 2051. Falls can be prevented by various method among which involving in physical activity is considered as one of the most effective method. According toCarlucciet al., (2018), exercise in the older adults decreases the risk of fall and enhances the muscular strength, walking speed, balance of the body. Exercise also helps in enhancing the psychological factors which enhances mood and mental stability. The most effective exercise for fall prevention is standing on one leg, tai-chi and balance exercise.
