Question 1 a.
As evident from the case study, it seems that Chung had been suffering from anxiety
disorder, which can be due to the factors like long shifting hours, his inability to cope up with
the Australian culture, his inability to meet his own parents and get in touch to his own
culture, the complication of this wife in her post pregnancy period has led to the development
anxiety disorder in the patient. Anxiety disorder has led to the development of a feeling of
hopelessness and suicidal tendency in Chung. According to Germain, (2013), panic disorder
are often accompanied by frightening sensation like the shortness of breath or
hyperventilation. Abnormal sleeping patterns or sleep deprivation have also found to trigger
anxiety and the mood disorders (Germain 2013).
Question 1b. Cognitive behavioural therapy can considered as the best psychological
therapy for the management of the panic disorder in Chung. CBT are the type of therapy that
are often provided by the psychiatrist to the mental health patients (Leichsenring et al., 2014).
As a community nurse after checking Charlotte, a nurse can spend some time talking with
Chung to understand his grievances. Later on, an appointment can be fixed with Chung or he
can also be referred to a counsellor.
CBT can be used for Chung as such a psychotherapy would help patient to develop
skills to cope up with adverse conditions. The main goal would be to change the pattern of
thinking in Chung, such as panic attacks are not heart attacks and changing the way how he
feels about himself and also helps to build self-esteem (Leichsenring et al., 2014).
Question 2a. It is evident from the case study that Chung had been working for long hours to
thrive as a doctor and have also gone through several thick and thins like experiencing
medical board investigations. He had been away from his mother land long enough. He had
marries, but feels guilty that he could not provide adequate time to his wife and his new-born
