In the 21st century nursing is considered to be glue that world in holding the health
care journey of the patient. In the complete experience of the patient and whoever in the need
of care, nurses are the one who work determinedly for recognizing and protecting the
individual needs (American Nurses Association, 2019). Beyond the traditional status for care
and devotion lies an extremely dedicated profession that continually comprises to talk about
the society needs. From safeguarding the precise diagnoses to the continuing knowledge of
the public regarding the serious health concerns; nurses are very important for safeguarding
the health of public. Some of the people may be disagree that the nursing profession is the

helpful, but they are also competence enough of taking tough decisions and managing the
correct medical care for the patient when there is no doctor. Of course, education considered
performing a major role in confirming this; however, these are some of the inborn qualities
that make one nurse better than the other. In order to be a competent nurse the required
qualities are high level of professionalism, never-ending diligence, attention to detail, action
oriented, empathetic disposition, stamina, and sense of humour (Rouse & AlMaqbali, 2014).
In addition to this, the skills are also considered to be very important in order to be a
successful nurse. Some of the skills that are required exceptional communication skills,
interpersonal skills, capability of quick problem solving, etc. (Kuehn, 2019). The role in the
nursing profession that I would like to aspire is to be the caregiver for the patients and
support them in managing their physical requirement, treating health situations, and
preventing them from illness. In order to do so, there is need of observing and monitoring the
patient condition and recording all the important information (Smith, 2019). However, in
order to proceed ethically and properly in this profession there are need of competency
standard, code of conduct or code of ethics. The requirement of competency standard is
necessary because it set a list of required skills, qualities, and values that must be checked
while selecting and judging an individual for the nursing profession. In addition to this, the
code of ethics or code of conduct is needed to make people understand the set behaviour and
policies to be followed to be success in the profession.
Personal Skills - As per my opinion Nursing Profession is one of the most
challenging job that raises the requirement to be ready for all type of situations and patient
that visit at the place. But, to efficiently deal with these situations there is need of
competencies and skills such as interpersonal skills, communication, etc. to have major
influence on the patient and on their families. According to my skills analysis, I have
identified that my experience of 2 years under the nursing profession is the key strength as it

has allowed me to learn more about the job and situations of patient to be deal with. In
addition to this, after working for years I am able to develop a good basic sense in me which
is many times supported in saving the life of patient. There were times in the hospital where I
used to work when the doctor used to busy in attending any other patient and unable to visit
or treat different patient. At that time, I have used by basic knowledge and sense to save the
life of patient by providing all the required medicines and care needed even in the absence of
family members. Considering the above strength, I do have some weaknesses that stop me
sometimes in maintaining my own health or family’s health. From the self-assessment
identified that I have the tendency to keep the needs of my patient first and my own health
and personal needs last.
From the above analysis, it could be concluded that Nursing is one of the most sever
and challenging job that is beyond caring and compassionate. Nurses are the one who make
tough decisions at the time of unavailability of doctors with the presence of mind and basic
sense. In addition to this, the analysis of the Australian Nursing industry highlights that the
presence of different regulatory authority results in developing different policies and
regulations for the proper execution of the role of nursing in the health care system.
