The TIGER Leadership Collaborative Report aims to flesh out nursing requirements
regarding underway informatics revolution. The following report discusses the effect of TIGER to
have patient outcomes through promoting technology. Further, research is carried out here on a
TIGER initiative for developing those patient outcomes through technology adoption.
Impact of TIGER:
TIGER protocols being a patient centered approach minimizes symptoms, enhances
recovery, improves outcomes and helps safer delivery, efficient and value based nursing cares.
Moreover, they have been assuring that every member of the complete surgical team has been on
similar pare and been communicating a consistent message to their patients (El et al., 2017). TIGER
protocols have been including repetitions that have been very vital, particularly while stressful times
are been going on. Besides, their caretakers have been possessing resources guiding them during
recovery.
While patients are been scheduled for surgeries, they are supplied with various bag filled-up
with materials and resources through TIGER Tote. This guides them on their advent towards
recovery. Protocols have been presently established for patients, who have been undergoing radical
cystectomy surgery. However, there are plans in place to extend those protocols for colorectal,
thoracic, pancreas and liver surgeries (Hunter et al., 2015). There has been high success at same
organizations that implemented their individual enhanced TIGER protocols. Through
implementation of TIGER, patients have been experiencing much effective results, improvement in
quality and decrease in cost. This global approach is applied system wide as a complete cohesive
team.

President of America in 2004 established goals that every people must have EHR or
Electronic Health Record by 2014. It was January 2005 when a central group of popular nursing
organization approached “TIGER Team” for a reform regarding Technology Informatics Guiding
Educational. They came to the decision that utilization of information has been a primary
competency for various professionals of healthcare in the present century. Further, there was an
argument that various nurses have leaked IT skills outside. Moreover, they have been using
informatics competencies within their roles. Then TIGER initiative came into being as a primary
initiative in the year 2006. It contained various supports from over seventy companies. It also
included a grant from “Robert Wood Johnson Foundation”. Next, the aim of TIGER has been to
prepare and engage their nursing workforce to use informatics and technologies. This is to improve
delivery of patient care (Sensmeier, Anderson & Shaw, 2017). After a decade, presently activities,
organization and hours have advanced though TIGER cause.
At this current initiative a total of three phases regarding basic initiative were recognized.
Here, the first phase was summit. A ten year old vision was defined and published. Next, a three year
action plan has been used. This was to develop different awareness regarding necessities for
informatics competencies for each of every individual nurse. Stakeholders were been encouraged in
implanting action plan of organization formalize cross-organizational action or activity steps under
the collaborative TIGER Teams ("New Leadership Collaborative Report Offers Recommendations
for the Innovative Nurse Leader", 2018). Moreover, measurable outcomes of every collaborative
team were defined and provided support and infrastructure for facilitating dissemination and

resources, current evaluations, outreach efforts, survey results and success stories. Lastly, the
resources were supported at local and national meetings.
The last phase was HIMSS and foundation. Here dissemination were driven by professional
companies and adopted an effective interprofessional approach. Here once again, the leaders of
TIGERs searched available opportunities with a renewed emerging international and national focus.
The foundation helped to prepare interprofessional colleagues and nurses to make healthcare
equitable, timely, patent centered, efficient and effective.
Thus it is seen that scope for every healthcare leader and nurse is to do activities with their
people and capital resources available. This is for promoting sustainable developments to healthcare
environments touching families and patients. Hence the above study has analyzed insights on
making that a reality through TIGER initiative.
