1Nursing Codes of Ethics
Introduction
Nursing Codes and Conducts are integral part of clinical practice and healthcare
provision. This assignment is focused on the relevance of nursing codes and conducts by
interconnecting the application of the codes with case studies.
Discussion
The nursing ethics provide a framework to help nurses and medical representatives
include the patients and family members with the ethical decisions. The approach of
bioethical decision making can clarify the right and wrong of clinical practices (Ballard et
al. ,2016). The decision making model is involved in the ethical, technical and moral role of
clinical practice and service provision.
The assignment is focused on the connection between real and theoretical world in
the world of nursing and clinical practises. As per the discussed case study, the nurse has
better identification of the patient’s problem and checking the past records. Therefore, it can
be said that the nurse maintain the provision 4 of the Code of Ethics for Nurses (Burke,
Richardson & Smith, 2017). The nurses should be responsible, respectful and polite to the
patients and the behavioural conduct is regulated by the provision 1. Application of the ethics
and principles should be maintained by the nurses as per the provision 8. If a child is admitted
to the hospital, the nurse should inform the parents about the health condition. Provision 5 is
associated with the legal and collective effort of the clinical practice and they need to connect
the health and safety related regulation with the references of the different nursing
interventions.
The registered nurses should maintain the legal codes associated with nursing and
these codes play a significant role in the career of a registered nurse (Handy & Russell,

2018). The legal nurses consult with the nursing competencies. The nurses should apply
nursing, medical and healthcare knowledge with the expertise of the professional practice.
The nurse should serve patients without any bias regarding race, age and gender of the
patient. The degree of integrity should be performed with honesty, rightness and sincerity by
the nurses. The legal nurse consultant protects client privacy and confidentiality. The
relationship in between nurses and patients should ensure integrity and ethical consideration.
Accepted responsibilities and accountabilities should be related with the legal consultation
during clinical practices. The nurses should collaborate with the doctors and health
professionals in making the arrangements for the clinical practices. The nurses are considered
as the clinical advocate for the patient’s rights and the quality of care during treatment. The
legal and ethical rights of individuals are articulated with the Provision 9 of nursing values
(Olson & Stokes, 2016). The nursing ethics maintain the integrity of the profession and social
justice of the admitted in the hospital.
Conclusion
The nurses play important roles during the treatment of a patient as well as in
maintaining the laws and legal aspects of the patients. The assignment is focused on the
connection between real and theoretical world in the world of nursing and clinical practises.
