Abstract
The chief aim of this report is to analyze the pathophysiological changes associated with
Type 2 diabetes along with developing an effective understanding of the potential
interventions available. In this report normal physiology as well as homeostasis of the
mentioned disease has been analyzed. It has been found that Diabetes type 2 possess the
potential to lead to complications like heart diseases, kidney damage, nerve damage and
stroke. Diabetes type 2 affects our blood vessels as well as nerves and therefore has the
potential to affect any part of human body. Secondly, the pathophysiology as well as the
mechanisms that leads to Diabetes type 2 as been discussed. In the body of an individual
suffering from type 2diabetes, the liver, muscle cells and fat do not response appropriately to
insulin. As a result of this blood sugar does not get into these cells to be stored for energy.
Apart from this, the core pharmacology associated with the treatment of the mentioned
disease has also been discussed. A specific example of the drug which is Metaformin has
been addressed. The discussion as included the mechanism of action of the mentioned drug,
its pharmacokinetics, rout of administration and finally its indications, contradictions,
precaution as well as side effects. It has been found that the mentioned medication possess
some contradictions like infection, pituitary hormone deficiency, low blood sugar, excess
body acid, fever and others. When it comes to the side effect of the consumption of
Metaformin, it includes physical weakness, diarrhea, gas and symptoms of weakness and
muscle pain. Apart from this relevancy of the mentioned disease with the clinical practice
has also been discussed. It has been found that Medical nutrition therapy is highly important
for the prevention of diabetes, management of existing diabetes and slowing down the rate of
complications.
