NURSING OBJECTIVE
Week 1
Objective 1
Under the supervision of a senior registered nurse (RN), I will successfully remove peripheral
intravenous cannula
Objective 2
Towards the initiation of the process, the first thing I will do is the observance of
hand hygiene and use of correctly fitted gloves and this will help me to conduct the process
under aseptic condition and the same has been highlighted by Limm et al. (2013). After this I
follow careful removal of dressing and then subsequent removal of cannual with the help of
sterile gauze. After the removal of the cannula, I will secured the site of incision with
dressing. During my future nursing practise, I will also document if the patient is
experiencing any pain during the removal of cannula and will document any change in the
site of incision during the time of dressing replacement as mentioned in the study conducted
by Hawkins et al. (2018).
