INTRODUCTION
Nursing is a procedure of being or having someone in charge of someone’s personal health.
This procedure ensures that the best condition of patient has been maintained and the core of
such nursing practice is caring. The present report has developed with the aim of argument
affirmatively to the statement which is Caring is an essential element of Nursing. For this
procedure, this report will include literature for defining caring and the arguments that can direct
the affirmative agreement for the statement that caring is an essential element of Nursing. This
report will include various elements of Caring along with its importance in the field of Nursing.
MAIN BODY
Caring is not only about the medical aspect of nursing but it is the care which helps patients
to release stress about their conditions and injuries. It is important for nurses who are practicing
professional, treat their patient so that the patient’s need can be fulfilled (Kitson, 2018). Caring is
a term defined as collaborative relationship between nurses and their patients that includes
mutual relationship and aims for positive outcomes for the patients. In order to understand the
concept of Caring better, it is important to analyse the 5 C’s of caring that includes commitment,
competence, confidence, compassion and conscience. The first C which is commitment indicates
that the life and work of a nurse can be difficult as it requires skills and experience to not only
deal with certain kind of people but to also care for them. Considering this, the profession of
Nursing is filled with strong values and commitment for work which pushes the nurses to care
for their patients without any bias and conflict of interest. The commitment elements states that it
is important for a nurse to be committed towards their work and develop the ability to enhance
the level of care which has been delivered to the patients.
Another C is competence which states that ever person practicing nursing must be
competent enough take complete care of a patient. This concept is more complex than it looks as
there are various ways through which a nurse can show its competence (Burridge and et.al.
2017). Few aspects which high level of competence can include arriving at their workplace on
the designated time, another aspect can include fulfilling all their workplace responsibility and
completing the emotional needs of patient. So, it is important for a practicing nurse to be
competent enough to be caring. Another C of care is Compassion which states that a caring nurse
shows compassion towards their patients by providing them positive vibes using soft
