NURSING PRACTICE
Part 1:
Problem/Issue Identification:
To maintain the proper functioning of the family, it is important that all the issue or
challenges observed are addressed on time before any further complexity (Sexton, 2017). Daiyu
and Zhang have two daughters Lucy who is three years old and Olivia who is six months old.
After the delivery, they have decided that Daiyu will take rest to avoid any risk of harm in future
and will continue her job as half time, however due to family pressure she has to join her work as
full time before the time they have planned. Hence by reviewing the case study, the issue which
has been identified which can impact the family negatively is the Daiyu’s condition. Due to this
Daiyu is facing extreme pressure both in terms of financially and mentally which can disrupt
their proper family functioning.
Nursing goal of the family:
Developmental of the nursing goal of the family is vital as it helps to avoid the challenges
or issue that has been identified (Bell, 2016). By critically analysing the family condition of
Zhang, the major issue that has been identified is the Daiyu’s condition. Hence based on that, the
primary nursing goal of the family is to improvise Daiyu’s condition. It is considered as the
primary goal because due to the immense family pressure on Daiyu, she is feeling isolated and
irritated. It can also have negative impact on her health both physically and mentally (Symoens
& Bracke, 2015). Daiyu and Zhang are the only earning members of their family, and if she gets
affected by any illness either mentally or physically it will pose extra financial pressure on the
family.

NURSING PRACTICE
Nursing care intervention:
In the previous discussion, it has been evident that the major issue that has been observed
in Zhang family is the Daiyu’s condition which has the major risk of harm. Thus, the primary
nursing goal is to improvise Daiyu’s condition.
The nursing intervention that has been to improvise the health condition of Daiyu
includes counselling therapy for Daiyu and educating the family members.
Counselling:
Counselling therapy is considered as one of the most effective tools in family nursing
(Kaakinen et al., 2018). It helps the nurse to counsel the most vulnerable individual of the family
who is at the high of getting affected or broken. By reviewing the case study, it is analyzed that
due to extreme family pressure on Daiyu, she is feeling isolated and wants to meet her family,
but due to the financial issue they were not able to come Australia. It is creating extra pressure
on her mental health and hence increases the chance for Daiyu getting into depression. In the
counselling process, the nurse should use several tools such as empathy to make an effective
therapeutic relationship with her to make her comfortable with her. So, that Diayu’s can share
her feelings and needs with the nurse. The nurse should make her understand that she is not alone
and hence should not feel isolated. The nurse should provide her with the strategies which can
help her for the better management of the family (Eggenberger & Sanders, 2016).
Educating family members:

Educating the family member is proved to effective in reducing the family conflicts and
issues (Ahmad-Abadi et al., 2017) To improvise the health condition of Daiyu, it is also
important to educate the family members about her condition, so that they can support her. Daiyu
lives in Australia with her husband, two daughters and in-laws and her mother and father live in
China. Apart from that, there are no other close family members. The nurse should work in
collaboration with the family members for the proper treatment of Daiyu. The nurse should
educate her husband Zhang about Daiyu’s condition both physically and mentally. As in the case
study, it is observed that Daiyu have to look for children after coming from which is making her
more annoyed. The nurse should advise her husband to support her in the household chores and
in taking care of their children’s also. Ling has to do all the household work alone as Zhang, and
Daiyu leave for work and her husband Wei also does not involve much with the household work
and children. Due to this, ling is getting annoyed and is consequently withdrawing her
participation and also seem to snap the children and Daiyu. Due to which the children are
becoming more aggravating Therefore, nurse should educate them both that their behaviour is
possessing negative impact on Daiyu’s health and they should avoid doing so. Daiyu’s mother is
also suggested to not ask her constantly about grandson and instead support her in the possible,
way they can.
Evaluating nursing care intervention:
The two nursing care intervention that was developed by the community nurse was
counselling therapy for Daiyu and educating the family members. Since Daiyu was feeling
isolated and lonely and she was also under huge pressure of managing family and work, she was
suffering from huge mental distress, and hence counselling therapy would be effective in
managing her health and mental state her. The nurse will weekly conduct the counselling session,

and after the session the nurse will interview her and try to understand if the session were
successful in managing her mental state (Das, 2018). The nurse will also evaluate if the issue of
Daiyu is decreasing or not and if she can manage her work and family effectively. Based on the
evaluation, the nurse will introduce different therapy sessions that will help her to manage her
life with more ease. Since Daiyu was feeling isolated and there was a huge possibility that she
might suffer from depression, the nurse will also aim to educate the family and guide them on
how they can support Daiyu and help her to feel happy and occupied. The nurse will conduct an
educational session for each family members and guide them regarding their activities that can
support Daiyu. The nurse will, therefore, evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention by
observing the behaviour of each family member and how are they collaborating with Daiyu in
managing her work and family (Kincaid & Horner, 2017). The nurse will evaluate the
behavioural changes in Daiyu and her family after providing the nursing care intervention and
based on the analysis, the effectiveness of the intervention will be interpreted by the community
nurse.
Part 2:
Vaccination is defined as the vaccine administration process that will help the child’s
immune system to develop and also protect the child from various type of health illness.
Vaccines improve the adaptive immunity of a child and recognise any foreign agent that can
cause illness with the child and destroys it. According to World Health Organization (2019),
vaccinating newborn babies is very important to enhance their immunity and to protect them
from any severe health illness. The newborn child has to get vaccinated from hepatitis B vaccine
within 24 hours of their birth, as it is evident that the newborn child is very susceptible and
vulnerable towards any infection (World Health Organization, 2019).

In the provided case scenario, it was evident that Daiyu had not vaccinated Lucy, who
was three years old, with any vaccine and was worried because Lucy was going to get admitted
in the Kindergarten. According to Australian Broadcasting Corporation (2019), young children
who are not vaccinated will be banned from attending the kindergarten school. The Australian
government had released a novel regulation that permits the Health Department of Australia to
ban the under-vaccinated and unvaccinated children to visit the Kindergarten school during any
illness outbreaks. Other countries such as Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales have also
introduced the same law to ban the unvaccinated children from visiting the school. Through the
initiative taken by the Australian government, the small children will be protected from being
exposed in the community and adapt any communicable diseases (Australian Broadcasting
Corporation, 2019).
Hence, it is established that being a community nurse; I will educate Daiyu that it is very
important to vaccinate the young children as per the vaccination schedule present in the National
Immunisation Program that has the list of recommended vacancies for the children as per their
age (Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule, 2019). According to the Department of Health
(2019), every vaccine is properly tested and is passed through various safety testing procedure
before it is released under the Therapeutic goods Administration (TGA). Hence, I will educate
Daiyu that it is safe to vaccinate Lucy and Olivia, as they will not suffer from any adverse health
impact. I will also explain her that not vaccinating might affect their future health as they will be
susceptible towards various communicable disease and might even suffer from adverse health
consequences (Australian Government Department of Health, 2019).
The common side effects of vaccination are mild and usually, do not last for longer
period. I will explain Daiyu that she should not worry about the side effects such as headache,

must be followed and based on the age of the child; every parent should take their child to the
