Introduction:
In nursing practice, the patients must always be dealt with the utmost respect and respect,
and the ethical standards of nursing practice provide the nurses with the ability to adhere to the
different values of ethical concept that inform nursing practice (Winland-Brown, Lachman &
Swanson, 2015). This assignment will attempt to focus on 8 elements of values of ethical
concept (commitment, equality, justice, respect, trust, values, virtues and wisdom) and will
correlate it with the code of ethics of nursing practice.
Discussion:
The first and foremost element is commitment, which can be considered a very
important element of the nursing practice. According to the provision 2 of the code of ethics, the
primary commitment of the nursing profession is to respect and safeguard the uniqueness,
dignity and worth of the patient. Even in case of any conflicting situation arose, the primary
commitment of nursing professional remains to the patient only. The second element is equality,
according to the provision 6 of the Code of Ethics of nursing practice; the actions of the nursing
professionals must be supported by a moral milieu so that the therapeutic relationship among a
nurse and patient can flourish (American nurses association, 2014). The mentioned moral milieu
comprises of mutual respect, communication, transparency and equality given to the different
individuals. Justice in the construct of nursing practice is considered to be with respect to social
justice. According to the provision 9 of the Code of Ethics, the professionals must integrate the
different principles of social justice in nursing and health policy implementation (American
nurses association, 2014).

Respect is a very important aspect of nursing practice; according to the provision 1 of
Code of Ethics, the nurses must practice with utmost compassion and respect towards the
patients so that there is no prejudice directed at the dignity worth and personal attributes of the
patients. As a nursing professional it is very important to gain the trust of the patients (Epstein &
Turner, 2015). According to the provision 1.2 Relationship with patients, the nurses are required
to establish a therapeutic relationship based on trust with the patients, so that the patients are able
to comfortably share their wishes and grievances.
The values constitute a very important aspect of nursing care and the care approach taken
for the patient. According to the provision 9, the professional responsibility of the nurses must
respect the different values and integrity of the patient while planning and implementing the care
activities. Respecting and safeguarding the virtue of the patients is also the utmost responsibility
of the nurses. The provision 6 of the Code of ethics states that the moral milieu of the nursing
relationship must also incorporate the understanding of the virtue of the patients and should
safeguard it under any circumstances (American nurses association, 2014). Lastly, it is very
important for the nurses to employ the wisdom gained by the clinical practice to the clinical
judgment. According to the provision 6, there is a unique blend of characteristic attributes in
each individual, patients or nurses. The wisdom is a very important element of the attributes
along with knowledge, skill, patience, compassion, honesty and courage. Hence, in the
therapeutic relationship with the patient, the wisdom of the patients should also be given equal
importance along with the nurse to arrive at a most optimal and patient centered clinical
judgment (Zahedi et al., 2013).

On a concluding note, there are various different aspects associated with the nursing
values of ethical concepts and each element informs nursing practice. This assignment has
discussed eight values and their impact on the nursing practice with respect to Code of ethics of
