Nursing is a systematic process that is totally based on solving the issues that are used to identify, prevent, treat health as well as to promote wellness. Environmental changes are the changes that leads to the great impact on the nursing care. There
are various factors that are included in environmental changes like natural, social and governmental factors. It has great impact on the health of older people. These factors have excessive impact on nursing practices or care. Nurses and patients
both have to suffer with the changes in these factors. There are some standard of practice that they followed but these factors affect their work practice that influence the health of older people.
Governmental factors
Nursing practices are based on some norms and
standards that they have to abide with.
Governmental factors like policies, rules,
regulations affect the nursing care. Any change
in these policies bring alteration and
modification in nursing care. These rules and
regulations that are set by government are very
essential as it defined the whole procedure of
practices. It provides standardization in daily
operational activities which is fruitful for older
patients as they get cure as per the standards.
Policies and procedures are very essential in the
nursing practice as it assists in clarify and
strengthen standards as well as it helps in
managing staff of nurses more effectively.
Social Factors
Social factors include lifestyles or living
standard of people and it leads to great
impact on the health of older people. In many
hospitals, treatment is provided according to
religion or wealth which shows inequality
and it affects the health of older people. On
the other hand, wealth is also the biggest
element that has great impact on the health of
older people, sometimes they did not have
sufficient money to take proper care and
treatment. Thus, social factor sometime leads
to positive and sometime negative impact on
their health. Poor economic and social
circumstances affect health of older people
throughout their life as well as practices of
nursing.
Natural Factors
Natural factor includes both internal and external
environment. It affects the nursing practices as well
as the health of patients. There are various natural
factor that influence nursing practices such as noise;
it has been observed that nurses are highly affected
by high noise level that creates annoyance, stress
and emotional exhaustion which affect activities
performed by nurses. Caring for old people need
focused and critical care which can be negatively
affected by noisy environment. There are more
natural factors such as light, with various setting in
which healthcare setting gets developed by
combination of natural and artificial lights. It has
been observed that light affects the mood of people
working in healthcare and can also influence their
working practices.
