Research aim and objectives
The main aim of this report is to evaluate how much music therapy is imperative for
improving the communication between nursing staff as well as PWD. The following
objectives will be completed by the researcher to complete the purpose of the study:
To explore the role of music therapy in improving the communication between PWD
and nursing staff
To comprehend the factors affecting music therapy in improving the communication
between PWD and nursing staff
To recommend the music therapy strategies to improve the communication between
PWD and nursing staff
Research question
What is the role of music therapy in improving the communication between PWD and
nursing staff?
What are the factors affecting music therapy in improving the communication
between PWD and nursing staff?
Which are music therapy strategies that are used to improve the communication
between PWD and nursing staff?
Proposed methodology
In this study, the research methodology chapter support to get information about study issue
(Reynolds, et al., 2014). This section could consider many methods named as research

design, data collection methods, research limitation, and ethical consideration (Reynolds, et
al., 2014). The following steps has been considered by the investigator to operate their
research acts for collecting the information about the study: These are discussed below:
Reliability and validity
Reliability and validity tool is effective in evaluating consistency as well as accuracy of the
study outcome. In the research, reliability and validity tools were considered by the
investigator to operate their study. The investigator will use these tools by which the
researcher would be able check the consistency of the questionnaire and accuracy of research
outcome. (Reynolds, et al., 2014).
Sampling
Sampling is tool or way which directs to investigator for selecting the suitable sample size in
conducting study in an effective way (Reynolds, et al., 2014). The sampling method could
consider different methods named as probability and non-probability sampling tool. For
conducting this study, the probability with stratified sampling tool is considered by study to
perform their study effectively (Smith, 2015). This tool is less expensive and time consuming
than the non-probability sampling tool.
The main reason of selecting stratified sampling is that as it assist to randomly select
participates for the study. This method is form of random sampling wherein the population is
determined into two groups on the basis of common attributes (Choy, 2014). This sampling
tool intends to simply present a particular sub-groups (Azhdarzadeh, et al., 2015). It is
examined that the sampling tool could facilitate to a researcher for selecting research
candidates without any biasness and get their reliable responses in the favour of study
concern (Fletcher, 2017). This method will be more imperative than the non-probability
sampling tool (Azhdarzadeh, et al., 2015). This tool could assist research scholar to conduct
the study in limited resources that would be a big advantage for the investigator (Bauer,

2014). The non-probability sampling tool that will not be practiced by the researcher as it is
employed for selecting participants on behalf of gender, age, experience, and education that
would create the biases in the research outcome. Hence, this method will not be practised by
researcher because this method will not be suitable for the subjective nature of study.
This study will be conducted on 50 nursing staff from different region due to getting diverse
responses of them towards the study concern. From this, the researcher will be able to get
their opinion about how much music therapy had been supportive in improving their
communication skills (Choy, 2014).
Research methods
For conducting this study, the mixed method will be practiced by the investigator that could
consider certain methods named as a qualitative and quantitative study tool. Herein,
researcher will use this tool as it facilitates to get theoretical as well as numerical information
about the study matter (Üstün and Eryilmaz, 2014). The mixed research methods could
enable investigator to get depth data towrads the role of music therapy to improve the
communication of nurse staff.
This method could support to eliminate the disadvantages of both methods qualitative as well
as quantitative (Bauer, 2014). The mixed design will also make the accuracy of the research
result. If researcher will use only qualitative data analysis method then they would be capable
to measure the quality of information that is gathered by entailing the qualitative research
methods (Habib, et al., 2014). Further, the quantitative will allow for obtaining numerical
information about the research issue. But, at the same time, it is founded that mixed-method
will be emphasized on having the benefits of both methods that could be effective for the
attainment of the research purpose (Alvesson and Sköldberg, 2017).

Data collection tool and analysis
In this study, primary and secondary data collection technique will be implemented due to
getting a reliable solution of study (Azhdarzadeh, et al., 2015). The primary data will be
obtained by entailing the survey through a questionnaire which will allow conducting the
study in an appropriate way (Mackey and Gass, 2015). The secondary data will be gathered
by entailing the views of different authors via online and offline existing sources. The
secondary information could be expensive than primary data collection method (Alvesson
and Sköldberg, 2017).
With the motive of this investigator, investigator will practice the statistical and literature
review method to appraise gathered data. For examining the statistical information, the SPSS
tool will be practised as it is vital as compared to other method because it enables to check
the accuracy of the questionnaire as well as evaluate the data by graphs, table, and chart
(Mackey and Gass, 2015). The literature review method will permit to examine conceptual
information of research and supported to make the result in favour of study (Flick, 2015).
