Running head: NURSING
Summary
The percentage of the obesity is high among the aboriginals residing in Australia with a
special mention to the population residing in the Darling Downs and West Moreton.
Aboriginals, who are above 18 years, suffer high basal metabolic index (BMI) due to lack of
significant physical activity. The analysis of the literature paper highlighted that proper health
education about the healthy lifestyle and knowledge about the importance of diet in the daily
life can help to increase the awareness of the individuals about the importance of the physical
activity. This awareness in turn can prove to be effective in reducing the high BMI index. In
order to promote healthcare awareness among the aboriginals, community level health
promotion campaign is required to be designed. In this health promotion campaign health
education about diet, physical activity and health living will be provided under the active
supervision of the community health nursing professionals. Assistance will also be given in
framing of the exercise chart as per the age, height, weight and gender.
The overall outcome of the program will be accessed based on the decrease in the
BMI index, comparative study done with the base-level value. However, there might be
decrease in the overall follow-up among the Aboriginal population. In order to increase the
overall footfall in the follow-up sessions, financial incentives can prove to be effective.
