Student Enrollment System: Validation Phase
Introduction
System design is one of the major areas that need to be understood well before one
engages in the development of objects. Ideally, in the concept of system design, the experience
of the user will matter a lot as it helps in the determination of the how effective the system will
be and how the users will be able to perform their major tasks. There are so many ways of
gathering the requirements or the customer needs such as by use of surveys, online
questionnaires among others (Babich, 2017). In many aspects, most of these data collection
methods don’t give the user or the researcher a good position to interact and visually represent
the system to be developed. In this case, it will allow one to go further and use other tools such
as storyboard which are very powerful in offering interactions and graphical representation to all
the operations that are used by the users.
A storyboard is one of the most powerful tools which is usually applied during the design
of the user interface to visualize and give a prediction of how the users can be able to interact
with the system to be developed (Karr, 2015). It is used to describe the way all the users interacts
with the systems. In this case, it may be considered as though a movie though they use figure-
like cartoons to express the content of the interface (Solver 2017). This tool usually helps the
designers of the user interface to have an understanding on the way people understand the system
within a given period of time and thus giving them a good idea the tastes and preferences of the
users in all aspects with regards to the given system (Grozny 2018). Ideally, storyboard usually
helps in the creation of a cheap and very effective way through which information can be
conveyed and thus one able to capture the user experience during the design of the system (Kim,
2018). The user interface design complexities have been made easy by the use of storyboards as

they help to explain the interface using images thus making it look like a film or an animation. It
is made easy by the use of simple words and appealing and cartoonish images. Human-computer
interaction has been founded through the usage of storyboards which has helped in giving
detailed illustrations of the elements of design and the ideas mapping the anticipated system
development (Rivers, 2016).
The report will capture the creation of the different storyboards with regards to student
registration to the university to the enrollment confirmation. There are six major steps that need
to be explained in details in the storyboards. The six to eight steps are such as registering the
student to the national university, the student is allowed to login to the system after registration,
registering of the courses, selecting which course to undertake, choosing the method of payment,
receive the payment details and confirm if the details are okay. The solution will also discuss the
drill-down report for this project to help one understands if the system design can be verified and
validated.

Student Registration
The first step in any university institution, the student must apply for the course and if he
or she qualifies then it will be possible for one to register. The storyboard below shows the
picture of a student trying to register.
Figure 1 a student registering
In this storyboard one, it is mandatory for any student to register to the enrollment
system. The enrollment system requires one to fill the text fields with the student Identity
Number, E-mail address, the physical address, Full name, and the contact number. The Student
ID should correspond to the CEO provided in the admission letter given after the application was
successful. Ideally, by use of the COE student ID, it will ensure that any student who tries to
register and has no admission or invitation will be blocked and thus avoiding cases of
redundancy as well as unnecessary data. Notably, for successful registration, the student must
have COE from the institution.
