AI Summary
This assignment details a comprehensive plan for a research project. It includes the development of a research proposal, outlining aims and objectives, followed by a detailed schedule spanning several weeks. The assignment emphasizes conducting a thorough literature review, focusing on both secondary and primary data sources. It also requires the design of a research methodology, including questionnaire formulation and data collection through surveys and interviews. Analysis of the collected data and drafting of findings are crucial components. Finally, ethical considerations are addressed, highlighting the importance of maintaining participant privacy and avoiding coercion during data collection.

HINT: See Reading 3 (Structure of the Research Proposal) for further guidance.
Aim of the project
What is the high-level aim of your proposed project activity? The aim is a single statement to be
achieved and will only be one sentence in length.
To conduct the study of Prediction of Obstructive sleep Apnea using Facial images
Objectives of the project
An objective is something which you plan to achieve. The objectives of the project are the results of
your research efforts that you intend to attain or accomplish. Objectives are not tasks of the project
To understand the meaning obstructive sleep apnea
To determine various causes of the obstructive sleep apnea
To analyse the techniques by which prediction of obstructive sleep apnea using facial images
To recommend the strategies by which obstructive sleep apnea disorder can overcome.
Background of the study
What is the problem you are aiming to address? Why have you chosen this project? The background of
the project will place the study in context, and will justify the aim and objectives of the investigation.
In the present era, obstructive sleep apnea disorder is continuing increasing in the patient. It is a serious
sleep disorder which arise due to breathing repeatedly stop and start during the sleep. There are various
kids of the sleep apnea but the most common is obstructive apnea. This kind of condition may be arise
and result of the craniofacial structure and the specific facial features such as face width, eye width etc.
While this kind of disorder generated in the individual then their face structure may different from the
normal person. Obstructive sleep Apnea is common disease which is associated with sleep
fragmentation and oxygen desaturation. Diagnosis of OSA is quit difficult because for giving correct
treatment and to examining the level of disease specialist have to monitor the patients overnight. In
additon, this process is quit costly and resource limited. That is why majority of persons become unable
to get timely treatment for this medical issue.
Review of literature
A brief summary of the literature already identified (referenced). A more detailed literature review will
be presented as part of the final paper.
As per the view of Gay, Mills and Airasian, (2011)photographic analysis techniques supports the
medical professionals in detail quantitative assessment of craniofacial morphology. It is the great
techniques which capture risk factors related to OSA. Author has stated that relationship between
surface facial dimensions, upper airways structures and craniofacial morphology are effective for

prediction of OSAHS. It is method that supports in measuring ethic difference in index and comparing
surface facial dimensions as well.
According to Žikić, B., (2016)there is no significant difference in face's vertical dimensions such
as upper face cut, lower fact cut etc. Author has stated that persons those who are suffering with OSA
have great mid and lower face widths. This part of the body appeared as wider and flatter as compare to
other part of face VanPatten and Williams, (2014)has argued that volume of mid face region is larger in
OSA subjects as compare to normal persons. In respect to OSA length of mandible is shorter.
Obstructive sleep apnea is the common and serious disorder in which breathing can stop during the 10
seconds while human sleep. This kind of disorder arise due to decrease oxygen in the blood and can
briefly awaken sleepers throughout the night. As per the research it has been founded that obstructive
sleep apnea is arisen due to the excess weight and obesity which is associated with the soft tissues can
cause the airway to become blocked. Thus, it can be said that this kind of disorder arisen among the
individual due to ten breathing. Individual with the OSA are not aware of the difficulty breathing. It is
often recognised as a problem by other who observe the individual at the period of interaction.
Proposed methodology
Describe how you intend to collect and analyse the information for the project.
Research methodology is one of the very important chapter in the research study by which scholar can
collect information for obtain an appropriate solution. In the research methodology there re various
kinds of methods included such as research approach, research philosophy, research design, research
technique, data collection, data analysis and sampling Gast, D.L. and Ledford, J.R., (2014). In the
present study, scholar has conducted the study on the prediction of obstructive sleep apnea using cranio
facial images.
Administration offices of the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. These methods are as follows-
Research approach- It is one of the essential method which help in obtaining an appropriate
solution of the study. There are major two kinds of methods such as inductive and deductive
approach. In the present study, deductive approach will apply by the scholar for conduct the
study on the prediction of obstructive sleep apnea using cranio facial images.
Research philosophies- This is another important method in the research methodology by which
scholar can easily find out the best solution of the research issue. There are major two kind of
the philosophy that is positivism and interpritivism. In the present study, positivism study can
apply for study on prediction of obstructive sleep apnea using cranio facial images.
Research technique- Research technique is one of the major method in the research methodology
by which scholar can conduct the investigation. In this manner, two kinds of the methods are
included such as qualitative and quantitative. In the present study, quantitative research
technique will apply by which collected information can represent with help of graphs, charts
and tables Creswell, J. W., (2013).
Data collection- Data collection is another important method by which scholar can collect
information. There are major two kinds of the sources for collecting data that is primary and
secondary. In the context of primary, scholar uses interview, survey, questionnaire etc. On the
other hand in the secondary data collection, scholar uses newspaper, books, journal etc. In the
present study, scholar will use primary data collection method under which they will conduct
survey for collecting data about the prediction of obstructive sleep apnea using cranio facial
images.
