on the brief introduction of McDonald Australia. It will describe the workplace
demography, emergency contact, and risk assessment (Chilcoat, 2017).
McDonald is an American fast food organization, which is originally established, and
headquarters are in Oak Brook, Illinois but in 2018, they move their worldwide
headquarters to Chicago. The Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino,
California, the United States as a restaurant operated this company in 1940. In the
year 1955, a businessperson Ray Kroc united with the company as a franchise agent
and began to buy the chain from the McDonald brothers. There are various varieties
of the restaurant such as Derived, McCafe, Create Your Taste, McExpress, McDonald
Next (Kollewe & Slawson, 2017).
McDonald faced various problems and issues. Hazardous working condition is one of
the main risks associated with McDonald Australia. The aim of the company is to
support the people and protect their employees, but this aim is not fulfilling by the
company. With the various achievements in the business, the company also faces a
various problem such as, workers filed 28 safety and health complaint which are
describing the low staffing, lack of protective gear, and bad training and burden to
work quickly that were resulting in the injury in the workplace. Employees were
pressurized to clean the fryer while its oil is hot (Douglas, 2015).
Food quality and treatment of employees are one of the main things on which the
individuals criticized this organization.
The purpose of this risk management plan is to assess the risk in the organizational
environment and manage such risk by implementing the effective strategies and steps.
Workplace demography
McDonald knows the importance of the values in the environment where every
employee should get equal opportunities and the free environment from harassment.
3

Workplace demographics of McDonald widely differ from nation to nation, altogether
with the favoured ways of communication. Each employee is from various countries
and communicates in various different languages. McDonald also offers their jobs to
the person with disabilities. Their training program aims to ensure that their
employees or customers are “disability confident” so the organization always provide
a supportive and humble service (Mamun, 2017).
Assessment of risk
The McDonald fast-food chain is alleged over the claim of not following health and
safety rules.
Employees of the worker had sued the company by filing the application related to the
working hazard with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Employees of the organization said that there is absence of gloves or treatment the hot
until also claim that they have been charred while washing grills that have to be kept
on and slipping on wet floors (CAP Index, 2019). After such incidents also
organization does not provide any first aid facilities for treatment of such injuries
instead frequently told the workers to deal their injuries and burns with condiments
One of the cases related to harsh environment can be briefly illustrated, one of the
employers Brittney Berry said that ‘After such injury occurred, management often
lacked first-aid provisions to treat the wounds and instead often told the labors to treat
their burns with condiments’ (JONES, 2017).
According to the review of Hart Research Associates, it has been seen that on an
average 33% of the workers were burnt due to the hot oil and that managers said to
use the condiments such as mustard, ketchup, and butter rather than of using the burnt
cream. Such risk is the result of the working environment of the company as well as
hot oil used in the organization (Blackmore, 2015).

Such risk can be assessed by imposing the penalty on the company for such a working
environment. The company can take strategic steps to deal with such risky working
condition. The company must change there working procedure especially changed the
use of oil tanks containing the hot oil in it. The company can also provide sufficient
training and teaching and information about the working conditions in the workplace.
Legal action which shall be followed by the company is to follow the safety standards
and provide safety kits to the employees (Velasco, 2015). McDonald wad treating the
workers in an illegal and criminal method. This has many problems and issues such as
theft, poverty, and oppression of the pregnant workers. Based on these it can be said
that McDonald's shortages ethical aspects by taking wrong use of their employees a
co-worker in the workplaces.
There is a much required of the change in the workplace of the McDonald as this type
of working condition in the organizational environment were not resulting in the
ethical outcomes and the employees of the organization are not happy from such
working condition a well. Change in the working procedure by providing them
protective gloves, first aid kit, and a friendly environment rather than forcing them to
work will help the organization to build a good image in the society. McDonalds
should not reduce the shift of the older workers just in a view to cut the cost and
employee younger workforce (Smith, 2015).
Critical review of relevant literature
Nawaz, 2011, states that the employees of the McDonald are likely to work harder
when they are feeling pressurized and supervise closely for the maximum output.
McDonald has taken various steps such as providing training to the employees and
teaching them how to deal with the workload. It was proved that the personal growth
rate of the employee in the workplace was not up to a satisfactory level. The

workforce of the company was not allowed to take the decision in their work even in
their areas that concern them. It was further found that the enthusiasm of the
McDonalds employees is low due to the bad employer-employee relationship, low
wage rate, and less reward. The training provided by the employer has not resulted in
the best outcomes and the company did not achieve the solution to the problem. In
addition to this, it has been also noticed that the employees of the organization should
be empowered in the various ways, to give them the facility of sharing their opinion,
and feedback should lo be implemented by the company (Kapoor, 2018).

Evaluation
The plan formed for the accessing of the risk and managing it will be going to help
the company in improving there working condition in the organizational environment.
If the company followed it very efficiently them it will be very effective to the
company. The strategies framed by the plan can be monitor in these ways:
The company must ensure that the working methods of the employee should be under
the planned objective.
Protecting the activities of the employee and company according to their vision and
mission and safety and health management plan.
If the company is fulfilling all the ethical standard and code of conduct then the
company must show to the public which will help in enhancing the goodwill of the
company.
Keep a watch on the internal and external variation which need to change according to
the health and safety plan and distribute the capability to attain the objective.
To undertake such evaluation it is necessary for the McDonald to have the public
survey, employees survey should have a look into the injuries which are occurring the

workplace a check whether the organizational plan is effectively working in
minimizing the injuries in the organization or not and the management is following
the plan strictly or not
The organization must have performance signs, the logical framework method, formal
reviews, and public expenditure tracking surveys.
Conclusion
It can be concluded from the above analysis that, various strategies are been
implemented by the McDonald’s to overcome the problem of the working condition.
But despite various formulation of goals and strategies, McDonald is so popular for
their behaviour towards employees and the working condition of the organization.
McDonald is not able to follow the standards of the safety and management plan.
Some of the problems which can be noticed in the company are low wages, bad
working condition. The various recommendations have been provided in the above
paragraph to the company each can help the company to meet the standard of the
safety and health management Plan. It can be seen from the above information that
the young workers employed by McDonald’s have been treated as disposable.
Macdonald is growing across the globe by their set plans and goals in this competitive
world.
