Introduction:
At the manufacturing industry, it is very common for the noise pollution to reach to a point
which creates various health and safety related issue for the workers. It is therefore, important for
the higher authority of these industries to keep the noise level within a reasonable rage.
Technically, sounds which cross the prescribed level are termed as noise. The noise often
distracts the workers form their job. As a result, it might cause serious accidents at the
workplace. If the workers are exposed for a very long duration of time to loud noises it might
result to hearing disability. Along with this, working for a prolonged duration of time, might
cause psychological problems among the workers as well. It is been noticed that, in such cases
the workers might be irritated very easily and lose their cool on a frequent basis. Therefore, for
these reasons, the higher authority of a manufacturing industry needs to implement occupational
health management program at the workplace. The primary aim of the report is to highlight the
importance of such programs which ensures the health and safety of their workers. This report
highlights the implementation of SMART approach to conduct this activity. And finally, it also
describes various barriers for noise control in the manufacturing industry and come up with a
number of effective strategies to counter them.
1.1 Occupational health management program: a detailed overview:
Often while working in manufacturing industries, it is common for the workers to face serious
health related issues. It is not uncommon for these issues to bear fatal consequences for the
workers. If the higher management fails to initiate appropriate measure to care for the well being
of their workers, they might face high rate of employment turnover which in the run retrains the

manufacturing plants to serve their customers with better service. The term occupational health
hazards guides the manufacturing plants to work under a number of rules and regulation which
ensures that the workers belonging to such industries can progress without worrying about their
health. Occupationalhealth management program promotes healthy surveillance and various
health promotional strategies at the very same time. A combination of these activities provides a
number of action plans provides environmental support and empowers the workers about their
health and safety (Münzelet al, 2015).
1.2 Objective of the study:
The objectives of the study are as follows:
 To find out various health problems associated with noise pollution in manufacturing
industries.
 To find out various ways to reduce such issues.
 To find out the barriers preventing the higher management to come up with an efficient
strategy to reduce noise pollution at the workplace.
 To apply SMART ways to ensure the medical and wellbeing of the workers in
manufacturing organizations.
