2OCEAN ASSESSMENT
Abstract
This paper has elaborated on analysing the OCEAN assessment test results on mine. I
have presented my reflection on my viewpoints on the test results and the things that have
surprised me. I have also presented my viewpoints on how this OCEAN test has helped me in
gaining a deeper understanding about myself and my personality traits. I need to work on
improving some of my traits in order to succeed in my career. However, majority part of the
results goes in positive direction. . The traits with high score will definitely help me in giving
my best in the organisations I shall be working for and to cope up with the different work
role, situations etc. The assessment has given me more insight into how I react in different
situations and this can help me in choosing a suitable profession for myself that would go
well with my personality.

3OCEAN ASSESSMENT
Introduction
OCEAN assessment is assessing the big five personality traits of an individual. These
traits include Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and
Neuroticism (N) (Brandstatter & Opp, 2014). According to Power and Pluess (2015), it is one
of the best Big Five Personality Traits model that is based on the findings from different
independent researches. It began to take shape during the 1990s for Lewis Goldberg who
named it as “The Big Five” but, it dates back to the late 1950s. OCEAN assessment is a
respected and accurate personality scale that is regularly used by different businesses as well
as in different psychological research. Also, many of the psychologists and career
professionals use this model for recruiting and assessing candidates for the company. The
dimensions in this model are considered to be the underlying traits that make up the overall
personality of individuals. High or low score on each of the above mentioned traits provides
deeper insights into the reasons why an individual behave or act like the way he or she does.
The assessment results give more insight into how an individual react in different situations
and this can help in choosing a suitable profession or occupation.
This paper shall elaborate on presenting a reflective piece on the results of OCEAN
assessment. Lastly, a detailed performance place shall be conducted on the basis of the
OCEAN results to improve on the weak areas or lower ratings.

Emotional Impact
My openness and agreeableness scores are depth. The former demonstrates that I have
the ability of connecting seemingly unrelated subjected or concepts more than the average
person. While the later depicts that I experience a great deal of empathy and I often tend to
get pleasure and happiness out of serving others and taking care of them. I believe both these
results to be true as I am really an emotional person and I love helping others. I am always
ready to assist my pals and colleagues to my limitations and ability. Many even have
acknowledged this and have appreciated this nature of mine. However, I am really surprised
to see my neuroticism score to be so low. I actually reacts to many situations with anger and
fear. I really get very disappointed on having negative experiences in my life. Even that
makes me sometimes resistant to do the same thing again or trying again to achieve it. I feel
that I might be again in danger or face the same negativity. So, I often quit doing so. Still, the
test result showed that I have low neuroticism. May be, it is because I do brush off things and
move on.

Emotions
I am feeling really positive on seeing my test result to be good and favourable. I am
happy as the test results are true to a great extent. I do prefer interpreting the means of a
situation instead of digging its dull fact. I believe that this test result will help me in
determining whether I am a right candidate in a chosen job role. With the same, I can make
use of this test results for identifying new roles or career that will fit my introvert personality
more appropriately. I can also seek out for new tasks and a different job role within my
company that would fit my personality better. With the help of this OCEAN test, I am able to
understand myself better (Pei-Lee et al., 2017). The traits with high score will definitely help
me in giving my best in the organisations I shall be working for and to cope up with the
different work role, situations etc. I will be helping my colleagues in practical and everyday
manners. I shall be able of making use of the established institutions for maintaining security
and stability. I would be using my creativity and insight for helping others. I believe that this
world could be a better and a more beautiful place to live in and I believe that with my
personality traits I can contribute in this process more significantly. My low score in
neuroticism suggests that I am likely to react to situations without fear or anger or sadness.
This is actually good for me as I shall never be quitting after failure and shall be trying again
and again to achieve the same.
Analysis
Hence, from the analysis of my OCEAN result I can claim that my openness,
conscientiousness and agreeableness traits will help me in dealing with the organisational
situations more effectively and getting used with the changes and implementation. With the
same, I can also become an active member and play an active role in the decision making
process as I have scored in both openness and agreeableness. My creativity and imaginative
way of thinking can help me in ensuring that the given tasks are done right and that too, with

great attention so that the outcome is out of the world. Furthermore, my tendency of thinking
about others and finding ways to help other can help me making more number of good
friends. I have scored low in Extraversion and Neuroticism, which I believe is also a good
thing for me. Being low in extraversion means I am not inclined to seek the stimulation from
outside and that my work will not be affected by any external factor (Judge & Zapata, 2015).
I am content with simple and I rarely seek others attention, which means I can do my job all
by me and the external factors cannot affect them to ruin them. Again, low in neuroticism
suggests that I am likely to react to situations without fear or anger or sadness. This can be
both a good and bad point. Good in the sense that I shall never be quitting after failure and
shall be trying again and again to achieve the same. And bad in the sense that always being
acceptable to negative results can ultimately demotivate me.
Conclusion
Hence, I conclude that the OCEAN assessment has helped me a lot to know and
understand myself and I assess where I currently stands. After the assessment I have
understood that I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about others and their needs as I am a
highly empathetic person. With the same, the second attribute that I have understood is that I
am highly preoccupied with achievement and goal-setting. Majority of my tasks revolve
around planning of the same and its completion. I am a very structured and orderly thinker. I
barely waste my time on the unproductive daydreaming as they are of no help to me or my
task. Thirdly, I have found that value compassion and kindness more than anything else. I am
a highly altruistic and sympathetic person. I feel that it is important to care about others and
to make this world a better place for everyone to live in. For this reason, I rarely do anything
that has no possibility of paying off in kindness or caring. Hence, overall, this test result has
