This presentation provides a critical analysis of the Odi Massacre in Niger Delta, which occurred due to the attack on police officers and subsequent military mayhem, resulting in the killing of people of Ijaw community. The presentation discusses the broken security in the Odi region due to environmental protection issues and oil resources in Niger Delta. It also highlights the violence of the military forces, including the use of heavy weapons and destruction of buildings, resulting in the death of 2500 people. The presentation further discusses the oil business in Niger Delta and the premeditated attack by the military forces, leading to numerous life losses. The negotiation by the Federal High Court for compensation to Ijaw communities of N37.6 billion and the violation of human rights are also discussed. The presentation concludes with the continuation of conflicts, payment of N15 billion only, and the magnitude of the incident, which was fiercer than Ogoniland in the previous years.
