QR Code or ‘Quick Response Code’ is one of the most reliable technologies used in supply
chain management system in many organisations. The technology provides with a two
dimensional barcode system that can be easily read via smart phones or special code detector
machines and can also be linked with emails or websites. One can easily scan the code from
posters or printed documents and get relevant information within few seconds. This Japanese
designed technology can perform various tasks in supply management (SM) like document
managing, product identification, tracking of products, and store other related information’s
(Monk, 2013).

technological innovation of QR codes will be discussed which can help in giving assistance
to the supply chain management. While supporting the thesis with the application of
technology in present business scenarios, this report will identify the pros and cons of QR
code application along with making hypothesis of its utilisation in future.
