OPERATION MANAGEMENT IN HEALTHCARE
The historical aspect of operation management in the healthcare evolves with various dimension.
In addition, operation management is essential for the provision of health service which is
rapidly changing the midst of reform. In this, the historical events indicate that every industry are
transforming where healthcare also adopt this to change the level of experience among patient.
Healthcare is industry which is very diverse and includes practitioners and institutions which
give services to the treatment, diagnosis, and prevention of illness, disease, injury and other
mental and physical disabilities. In the healthcare system, there is a very very large variety of
expert who concentrate on unique and specific treatments. In the year 2006, the institute of
medicine of national academy of sciences generated a report known as the future emergency
care, that is set of documents which define the issues experiencing healthcare at the period,
particularly the arena of emergency care (Akkaş, Sokullu, and Cetin, 2020). The report design a
more recommendation to resolving the present crisis. One of the main recommendation calls to
the following: health cares should decrease crowding via enhancing the efficiency of health care
and sufferer flow, and using information technologies and operational management methods.
Operation management in the healthcare system pertains to the overseeing the daily practices of
a healthcare system which influenced the experience of client and health care organisation aims.
As per the results of various research, it has been analysed that japan is far ahead than
U.S in the health care market in number of metrics. As per the report there are following stats
which represent the current scenario of Japan and US (Arun Kumar, and Wang, 2020). In terms
of completeness and accuracy in filling out the reports, japan ranked 1st whereas United states
ranked 11th and these stats is 86.11% in japan and 74.35% in US, which 16% less than Japan. In
context of infant mortality rate the Japan ranks 1st whereas the United states are placed in bottom
of the table. Health care system of japan costs on healthcare is approximately half as compare to
the US health care system and also produce better medical outcomes than US. As per the report,
japan health care market has “worker sponsored” health insurance which very similar to the
United States health care system insurance however the results from the both of these countries
could not be more similar. Japan ranks as number 1 of the top performing system of healthcare
on the all over globe. Japan has longer life expectancy than United states. In japan 130 million
Japanese has gone bankrupt because of the medical fees where as in United states, 643000
Americans has gone bankrupt in a year over bills of medical (Demirdöğen, Işık, and Arayici,

2021). The United states spend more than $9451 costs on the health care system where as japan
spends only $4150 costs, which less than half of the united states costs but provides better
outcomes in the field of health care system than United States. According to the overall
discussion it has been concluded that if it is supposing that japan is a person then he would be 10
years older than United states and live 6 years longer by spending 50% less amount that
American to the health care without any risk of bankruptcy (Prasad, 2021).
