INTRODUCTIONOperation management in an organisation focus on improving efficiency of a business.They make plan and organise various resources in order to achieve objectives set by top levelmanagement. IKEA is a company who make and sell furniture in various countries. They areamong table leader in this industry and they hold majority of share in this sector. Their vision isto create better life for many people by providing them wide range of product at low cost sopeople of different income group can buy them. Their mission is to retain the spot which they areholding from long period of time (Ageron, Gunasekaran and Spalanzani, 2012). This report willdiscuss about importance of operational management, it will also include five performanceobjective. Critical path analyse and network planning will become part of this project. TASK 11.1 Importance of operational management in IKEA.IKEA is a multinational company, they have 1220 suppliers in almost 55 countries. Whenan organisation operates at such a high level they have to give more attention at the time ofexecution of plans. This type of management assist in planning, organising, coordinating andcontrolling. Cited group has around 123000 co workers, they need training on basis, thisimplementation of plans made under this system will help in improving workers performance. Itwill also provide support in manufacturing process, if design of furniture get attractive thanpotential customers can become permanent buyers in short period of time. Another importance ofthis type of management is that IKEA can acquire raw material at right time which will stop thedelaying in production process (de MenezesWood and Gelade, 2010). It also provide greatassistance in smoothing the function of various departments. This will enhance their efficiency atwork place. They can get feedbacks from customers and make products according to theirdemand. After sale service is an integral part of operational management, in current scenario thisis one of the most important function done by many companies in different industries.
