INTRODUCTION
Overview of chosen organisation
Advinia Healthcare Limited is one of the biggest healthcare organisation in the private
sector of United kingdom (UK), whose headquarters is in London, England, United Kingdom
(UK). It was founded by Dr. Sanjeev Kanoria and Sangita Kanoria in year 1999 (Arnold and
Boggs, 2019).
Present report will highlight the roles and responsibilities of operational manager and
leader in the organisation. It will also tell about the required skills which is essential for the
leader and operational manager working in the organisation. This report will also tell about the
different leadership models and theories which helps in work management and team
management in the organisation. At last, report will also focus on the conflict resolving
strategies.
TASK 1
P1 Describe the role and responsibilities of an operational manager in health care practices.
Advinia Healthcare Ltd is a leading organization which provide the health care services to
the people. It was established in 1999 and operates 38 car homes and 3, 250 across the Scotland
and England (Emmons, 2018). The operational manager in the organization to perform different
type of role and responsibilities. They are making plan, direct and coordinate other practitioners,
groups, departments etc.
Role and responsibilities of operational manager-
 Operational manager is communicated with the other staff members to monitor the day
by day activities of employee.
 It has a supervisor work in the specialized unit with the Advinia hospital (Ginter, Duncan
and Swayne, 2018).
 The manager handles the enterprise operations and requirement of medical team so that it
establish the policies or framework to manage the human resources, financial resources
and maintain IT system.
 It serves the mediator between the strategies, goals and day by day activities.

P2 Describe that why different type of personal skill are prioritised in the leadership through
different operational tasks in health care practice
There are various types of personal skill required for organization that help to manage and
control the operational task in Advinia Healthcare limited by Manager. It involves leadership
professionalism, business skill, communication and knowledge (Harvey and et.al., 2018). A
successful healthcare operational manager used the personal skill to handle the business
operations and functions. In this way, it easily understands the requirement of services to give
the better quality of facilities to the patient as well as staff member in Advinia healthcare.
Relationship management and communication Skill
Operational manager must be communicated with the other to maintain the relationship
and also ensure each of parties with whom they are focused ibn the primary goals (Urquhart and
et.al., 2018).
Professionalism
A working knowledge of operational manager is applying the knowledge in different
areas related the operation relative to Advinia Healthcare performance.
Business Skill
This skill will help for operational manager to implement innovative idea and concept for
managing the business operation of health care. In this way, they are applying their knowledge
towards the enterprise to increase the capabilities and performance in different areas of Advinia
health care (Rönnerhag and et.al., 2019).
In this way, it concluded that these are different type of personal skill play important role
in the organization which are prioritised in the leadership through manage and maintain the
enterprise task in appropriate manner.

There are various competencies which is required for the leader and operational manager
in order to carry out their roles. These competencies are as follows -
Communication Skills
Through communication skills, manager and leader of the organisation make clear
understanding of goals and objectives which is necessary for the completion of tasks.
Problem Solving Skills

Through problem solving skills, manager and leader of the organisation help employees
to solve the problems arise in the Advinia Healthcare Limited.
Motivating Skills
Through motivation skills, manager and leader of the company is able to motivate their
employees to do better work in the healthcare unit.
D1 Competencies needed for the effective leader and operational manager
There are various competencies and skills which is required to become effective leader
and operational manager. These competencies are such as communication skills, logical thinking
skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills, technical skills, computer skills and
analytical skills etc. these all skills will help managers and leaders of the Advinia Healthcare
Limited to handle their work force as well as work load effectively.

P3 Application of different leadership theories to the work roles
There are various leadership theories which can be applied to Advinia Healthcare Limited
Company. Following leadership theory will be applying to the workplace of the organisation by
the leaders -
Transformational Leadership Theory
According to this theory, it is essential for the organisation to create high performance
workforce. Thus, leader of the company must focus on the performance of employees working in
the organisation (Harvey and Kitson, 2015).
Leaders of Advinia Healthcare Limited Company has adopted transformational
leadership theory in which they encourage employees to think out of box in order to solve the
health related problems, they create a clear vision so that employees can understand the
organisational goals and link it with their personal goals.
Path Goal Theory
According to this theory, leader's behaviour impact the performance and perception of the
employees. Thus, leader should helps their employees to achieve their goals by following
particular path.
Leaders of Advinia Healthcare Limited Company has adopted path goal leadership theory
in which they decide a clear goal for their employees and accordingly decide the reward in order

to motivate them. For the achievement of goals, leader helps and guides employees to follow a
particular path.
P4 Support of leadership theories to aligning style of management
For the successful organisation, there should be co-ordination between leaders and
managers. Following points will explain the support of theories in aligning management style -
For the Transformational Leadership Theory, Democratic Management Style is good and
for the Path-Goal Theory, Autocratic Management Style is good.
Democratic management style and Transformational leadership theory
In democratic management style, manager of Advinia Healthcare Limited Company
encourage, involve and hear their employees' ideas, thoughts and consensus in decision making
process. In transformational leadership theory, leader of the company encourages employees to
think something creative. Thus, leaders and managers of the company should work together so
that they both can guide and motivate employees to do perform better (Gopee and Galloway,
2017).
Autocratic management style and Path Goal leadership theory
In autocratic management style, manager of Advinia Healthcare Limited Company make
their own decisions and tell employees to follow them. In Path Goal leadership theory, leader of
the organisation decide the goals and vision to the employees and provide guidance to follow a
particular path in order to achieve the goals. Thus, both leader and manager should work together
and support together in order to provide a clear understanding of goals, related decisions and
provide guidance.
M2 Benefits from the application of leadership theories
Benefits from Transformational Leadership Theory
In transformational leadership theory, the focus is on personal development of individual
and their skills which lead them to do work effectively, which make employees satisfy and they
become expert. This cause to reduction in costs and increase the retaining rate of employees in
the organisation.
Benefits from Path Goal Theory
In path goal theory, leader and manager set the goals and vision for the organisation
which lead employees to know what is required to achieve the goals. This lead them to be focus

on the goal and work in that particular direction which make them confidence for the completion
of tasks and they become satisfy with their work.
P5 Theory of team building and team management
For the development and management of team, Advinia Healthcare Limited Company
adopts Tuck-man Group Model. This model has 4 stages which helps company to form the team
and manage it as well (Frich and et.al., 2015).
In the context of Organisation, 4 stages are as follows -
Forming
In this stage, leader of the company form (build) a team on the basis of some
characteristics. Team member slowly know each other and their tasks, roles, responsibilities and
team objectives. Leader provide guidance and act as a facilitator.
Storming
In this stage, team member become close and trustworthy for each other. They ask for
each other opinion which sometimes lead to conflicts. Leader of the company look at their
behaviour, attitude and performance. He may need to adopt directive leadership style.
Norming
By this stage, every members get to know about each others' strengths and weaknesses.
Also, they know about the team goals clearly. In order to achieve that goals, they come up with
the plan and accordingly allot the tasks so that they can achieve their goals within the given
timeline. Leader of the company ask about the situations and give them hint to solve them.
Performing
In this stage, team works as a whole unit and their energy is at the peak point which help
them to complete their all tasks. They work for the team and support the team in any kind of
matter. Role of leader in this stage is to encourage creative ideas and motivate the members by
rewards.
P6 Conflict resolving strategies
There are various strategies which are used by Advinia Healthcare Limited for solving
conflicts between individuals working in the organisation. Conflicts can be arise due to various
reasons, thus understanding these reasons and accordingly apply strategies are beneficial for the
company. These strategies are as follows -
Making Behavioural Policy

Healthcare organisation should make a policy regarding behaviour of members working
in the Advinia Healthcare Limited in order to make them understand that which kinds of
behaviours are acceptable or not acceptable.
Application of Open Communication System
Advinia Healthcare Limited should focus on the application of open communication
system in the organisation in order to avoid the conflicts which arises due to miscommunication
between 2 or more individuals (Shanks, 2016).
Developing Communication Skills
Healthcare organisation must provide training to their members regarding effective
communication skills which involves effective listening, effective speaking, effective reading
and effective presentation etc. these all helps organization to solve conflicts automatically.
Organizing Cultural events or entertainment events
Sometimes conflicts between two or more individuals can be arise due to disrespecting
each others cultures or religions. Thus, company should organize different cultural or religion
events which can help in understanding the different cultural values. This will lead individuals to
respect their cultures.
M3 Benefits to team members through the team development model
Through Tuck-man's team development model, team-members get following benefits -
They get to know about their team members which helps them to understand the personalities.
They also able to learn from them regarding their work style which make them efficient. They
are able to compromise with each other in order to avoid unnecessary conflicts. This lead them to
become flexible according to the situations. This also help individuals to make decisions which
improve their logical thinking skills and decision making skills. This also make them to open
with each other which improve their communication skills.
D2 Effectiveness of own plan to improve an area of provision through different leadership
theories and models
According to the plan developed to improve the skills, I can take ideas from my peers,
leaders, managers and sub-ordinates, I can understand the whole policy of organization so that I
can link it with my objectives and I can take feedback from management team regarding
performance. These all improve my skills and management styles which in turn benefits to
organization as well.

CONCLUSION
As per discussion, it concluded that the developing operational management is a process
or method that applied in the business to manage the designing and controlling of enterprise
activities. It is also describing the role and responsibilities of operational manager and leader in
the healthcare organization. It is required to maintain and manage the skill which essential to
handle the task of healthcare. It summarized that the theories and leadership model which
support in the working system of business. It is also summarized the different resolving
strategies to control the overall function of enterprises.
