INTRODUCTION
Companies have various departments which are responsible for handling different
responsibilities according to their abilities. The following report discuss about how COVID-19
and technologies have majorly impacted Human Resource Department as well as finance
department of Tesco (Sharma, Faruk and El-Urfali, 2020). The respective company is a British
multinational company which was founded in the year 1919. The company deals in retail sector
and has its headquarter in Welwyn Garden City, UK.
MAIN BODY
COVID-19
This virus emerged at the end of the year 2019 in China which not only impacted
personal lives of people but also influenced growth of many companies. In context to Tesco, the
explanation about how it has impacted its different departments is provided below:
Human Resource Department
Due to this pandemic, government of UK implemented lock-down restriction which
forced the company to grant its workers work from facilities and also furlough some of them. It
become difficult for HR department to monitor activities of employees as they were working
from different geographical areas (Bureau, 2020).
Finance Department
Because of COVID-19 the finance department of the company faced challenges to
maintain its growth and profitability. As the offline stores were closed because of lock-down
restriction which further made it difficult to keep records about how to overcome losses.
Technology
In the present time digitalisation new and advanced technologies are emerging every day
in the market. It become very essential for companies to use digital platforms to reach large
number of audiences as many people are using online channels (Ernst, 2018). In case of Tesco,
how this technological factor has impacted its different department is mentioned below:
