INTRODUCTION
The operations management is considered as one of the major bodies of an organisation
which helps in managing key issues and challenges (Agrawal, Atasu, and Van Wassenhove,
2019). In the era of stiff competition between key companies, it is essential to focus on
operations management in order to achieve major goals and objectives. This is one of the key
role of operations management of a business to focus on analysing different ways and methods in
order to achieve effectiveness. In this report example of TESCO company is taken into
consideration which is British Multinational retail sector firm. The TESCO company was
founded in the year 1919 and it deals in grocery and other merchandise. TESCO has conducting
its business operations in different countries all across the globe and is widely known for its
products and services. The project will cover major dimensions of operations management which
are required to successfully develop effective goods and services. This project will also cover
role of operational management techniques and strategies which are helpful in gaining growth
and expansion.

TASK
Description of the area of operation chosen and the way it impacts on performance of a company
along with the finest and worse practice
The chosen area in this section is “Human resource management” which is a major
organisational body and considered as backbone of a company. It is important for a business
entity to focus on development of key approach related to human resource management in order
to gain competitive advantage. The human resource management department is playing an
important role at TESCO by managing precious employees of company. The Human resource
management is also dedicated to provide key solutions related to employee functioning at
TESCO. This is also one of the major functions of HR manager in a company to develop key
practices and functions which are helpful in increasing competitive strength of company (Anand,
and Gray, 2017). The overall performance and development of an individual is essential for an
individual. It is essential for a business entity like TESCO to focus on performance assessment
and evaluation of major employees in order to gain competency edge. The major companies in
the global and domestic marketplace focus on increasing performance of employees by adopting
major and sustainable practices. The following are key benefits of Human resource management
which impacts on overall performance of a company:
 Employee harmony- It is very much important for the organisation to increase harmony
of employees in order to develop crucial relationship. This helps in increasing the
employee satisfaction which directly impacts on their performance in an effective
manner. The harmony between employees is also crucial in order to formulate and

improve worse practice are mentioned below:
