INTRODUCTIONIn the present times, customer decision making in relation to purchase is highlyinfluenced from the quality of products or services offered by the firm. Hence, effectualmanagement of operation is the key which in turn helps in removing defects and thereby ensureshigh quality of services (Agarwal and et.al., 2012). Now, customers prefer to purchase productsfrom the retailer which offers high quality products at affordable prices. Hence, by makingcontinuous evaluation of operational aspects firm can assess the areas that require improvement.The present report is based on the case study of Mount Michael Vineyard which offers grapewines to the customers. Case situation entails that, Sue Anderson, owner of the company ishighly concerned towards the quality aspect. QUESTIONS 1. Assessing the importance of quality for Mount Michael success As per the given case study, it has been founded that the mount Michael vineyard aroseout of the sue and Martin Anderson. They wanted to live and run their wine business in CentralOtago. In order to find the right site, sue and Martin Anderson spent nearly two years finding theright site a six hectare plot at the land of Otago. In order to produce wine, they have taken initialthree hectare vineyards with approximately half Chardonnay grapes and other half in pinot noirgrapes (Arnulf and et.al., 2014). In order to produce the high quality of wine in the land ofcentral otago, she made various hard efforts like the first harvest of grapes from the mountMichael vineyard were picked and blessed by the local Anglican church vicar. In order toconsider her initial efforts on the vineyard, sue sold grapes from the first two year harvest tochard farm. In the 1999, she feels that her plan has succeeded for develop vineyard in aneffective manner and the grapes has attained in excellent and sufficient quality and quantity.After that she labelled the first made wines as name under the “Mount Michael''.For sue and her husband Martin Anderson, the success of the Mount Michael is very importantbecause they wanted to earn the maximum customer attraction and sale of wine in the NewZealand. For this purpose, they took high initiatives and efforts for producing the high quality ofwine. Sue Anderson tasted a glass of one of her highly acclaimed wines of Mount Michael wine,
and she was frustrated because corked wines reflected poorly on the vineyard so she felt thatthere were a waste of good grapes and hard work. In order to produce the high quality ofvineyard grapes sue and her husband decided to purchase 3 hectare vineyards in the centralOtago region of New Zealand (aur and Haase, 2015). For the last three years, they succeed inproducing vineyard grapes under the Mount Michael label. This label has high reputation in themarket because of the high quality of wine and sue guessed that up to 10% of wine sold sufferedfrom the cock taint. In the taste of the wine it was found that wine taste was dull and offflavoured. This issue was major reason for the frustration of sue because she was very hopelessby this vineyard grapes. The major problem frustrating to sue and other winegrowers is thatwhile they tasted the wine then they founded poor taste to low quality grapes and poor winemaking. The real causes of the problem were with cork of wine (Blanchard, 2010). Then suedecided to change the bottle style for the 2002 vintage. It was major challenge with moving awayfrom cock. Consumer accepted high quality of wine along with traditional corks closure methodof wine. Many customers focused on the pop of the cork and bottle of wine while they purchasethe wine. Sue have complete knowledge about national and international wineries. From theother wineries strategies, sue was very confused about the right form of closure for her new winethat is Mount Michael Vineyard.In the central Otago within New Zealand, sue and her husband was impressed with the quality ofwine which produced in the region. They decided to establish a vineyard in this land. By makingmany efforts sue sold grapes from the first year harvest to other local wineries. In the 1999 suefelt that vineyard was established in excellent quality and grapes has achieved sufficient quality.After success in the producing of Mount Michael label, the Anderson opted to have anotherwinery produce the wine for them. There was various other small vineyard owner in this areawho also employed the larger wineries or a contact winemaker in the area to produce the wines(Randeree, and Chaudhry, 2012). That is why Anderson decided to put the remaining threehectares land. They have succeeded in the manner of expansion of business to add wine like newgrape varietal, Pinot Gris in the wine portfolio. Pinot Gris was another cool climate white winegrape that other grower in central Otago were increasing the success with.Once they succeed various kinds of flavoured wines after that Sue looked toward the criteriathrough which she can maintain the success for long time.
