The importance of systems thinking
Systems thinking allows stakeholders and shareholders to adopt a holistic view of an
organization (Bloodgood, 2015). The approach allows dealing with problems efficiently from the
grass root management to the top level management. Additionally, the whole organization moves
together toward improvement.
System thinking has various tools that organizations consider while driving improvement
(Bloodgood, 2015). For example, organizations could adopt the rich picture, which consists of
signs, and all other images deemed appropriate. The final picture brings out the real situation and
forces the developers to deeply understand the problem at hand (Elmoselhy, 2015).

The report focusses on Aarhus region customs, which is the largest tax section in
Denmark. The country has 29 tax offices over the country with the Aarhus centre as the
headquarters. The headquarters acts as the central point for tax collection in an effective and
efficient manner (Zweibelson, 2016). The government and citizens rely on the headquarters to
understand the actual figures of tax collection. Therefore, the tax centre has implemented high-
quality procedures to serve customers properly (Zweibelson, 2016).
Operational challenges
Aarhus region customs operated ineffectively, which resulted in customer dissatisfaction
and errors. The tax center had poor systems that failed to report accurate numbers of tax collected
from the citizens. The inefficiency frustrated the customers who believed that the tax office had
the responsibility to offer better services (Swedberg, 2016). However, the center could not
eliminate the errors in calculation due to the use of the manual system, which was highly
susceptible to errors of omission and commission.
