Plaque
What is it and how is it caused?
The bacteria, which stay in the mouth, forms a film or
coat around the teeth is known as plaque (Nakagawa et
al., 2014).
Prevention
Regular brushing using quality toothpaste and flossing
of teeth. Rinsing of teeth with water after every meal
(Langley et al., 2014).
Treatment
A dentist needs to be consulted and it can be scraped
away with medical assistance (Langley et al., 2014).
Calculus
What is it and how is it caused?
Calculus is the plaque which gets hardened and sticks to
the teeth (Singh et al., 2016).
Prevention
Regular routine off oral hygiene needs to be maintained
by brushing and rinsing of teeth (Singh et al., 2016).
Treatment
The treatment includes its removal through a process
known as debridement in medical terms (Singh et al.,
2016).
Dental Caries

The medical science defines Dental Caries as cavities or
the decaying of the tooth (Kidd and Fejerskov, 2016).
