INTRODUCTIONStructure behavior is analysed as the part of survey that analyze the influence thatindividualist, groups and artefact have on the action within form for aim of applying suchcognition towards up effectivity.Present report is based on A David & Co Limited, which is analysed as Food AndBeverages Company with its business operations across UK. It is analysed as Small mediumenterprise as it has an annual turnover of around £10M to £20M.As an HR manager, Influence of culture, power and politics on individual and teambehaviour and performance. Analysis of content and process theories is also done to explain theirinfluence on employee's motivation at A David & Co Limited. In addition, some specific aspectsthat make an effective team as opposed to ineffective will be also discussed along with theconcept and theories of organisation behaviour.TASK 1P1 Influence of culture, power and politics on individual and team behaviour and performanceOrganisation culture refers to values and behaviours that contribute towards unique socialand psychological environment of business enterprise. Power is associated with influence ofindividuals on behaviour and performance of other employees at workplace.Organisation politics is a process and behaviour of human interaction that involvedauthority and power. In this context, there are various teams that have been formulated bymanager, which have their important role in providing growth to A David & Co and achievementof objectives (Jain and Cooper, 2012).Below are the points that clearly determine the influence of organisational culture, power andpolitics on individual and team behaviour such as:Influence of culture: In an organisation, culture is related with flow of authority andresponsibilities between management and employees that affect the behaviour and performance.Providing high authority to take decisions provided to one individual will influence thebehaviour of individuals at A David & Co.There are various types of culture such as:Power culture: It implies to a condition of business where power is held by few individuals whoinfluence spread through the organisation. In this context, manager of A David & Co have also1
applied this culture in organisation for controlling and creating influence on employees atworkplace.It will decrease motivation of employee in performing their role within organisation andteam members if they will not get opportunities to participate in decision-making. For example:BBC has also adopted this culture at workplace to increase the performance of employees. Itprovides support in taking better strategic decisions for functioning of organisation.Role culture: In this culture, manager and leaders in A David & Co also provide emphasise onfollowing rules. They will make about roles and responsibilities that needs to be accomplishedby every individuals at workplace without taking participation of employees (Thomson and VanNiekerk, 2012). It provides positive influence on team and employee's behaviour because theirduties and authorities are clearly defined to them at workplace. In Arthur David & Co, managersand leaders must clearly roles and responsibilities of employees at workplace.Task culture: It is type of culture, which is formed to complete a specific task, resolvingproblems or specific projects. It will increase performance and also provide positive influence oftheir behaviour at workplace. Managers in A David & Co also allocate specific task toindividuals and teams to promote positive behaviour and increasing their competencies atworkplace.Personal culture: In organisation with personal culture, individuals usually see themselves asunique and superior to the company. For them, organisation only exists in order to perform theirjob. This culture tends to create negative impactEmployee’s behaviour and team performance because their will be no collaboration betweenteam members at workplace (Farrell and Oczkowski, 2012).Hofstede cultural dimension theory is also determined to state the impact of cross culturecommunication on employee's behaviour and team performance. It involves six dimensions suchas:Power distance index: This dimension will make discussion regarding unequaldistribution of power at workplace where people have power culture utilize is to fulfil hisor her own interest. In case of Arthur & David co. This model is applicable as power isdistributed according to role of individual in organisation.2
