In your lectures, four rationales for organisational analysis are described.
1 Critically discuss the argument presented by the author(s).
The authors try to describe and analyse that the expansion of the economic
activities along with human society is becoming limited in the present scenario
and due to the same, there is a debate which is being raised as to solve such
social and environmental related problems. As argued by the authors, it can be
analysed that the discourse of sustainability is becoming ubiquitous and the
authors have highlighted that there is a substantial gap which is existing
between the talk along with practice of sustainability reporting. The main aspect
of the journal is that it mainly focuses on the relationship between the human
behaviour, structure, processes of organizations and accounting. It is inclusive
of relationship between the accounting, organizations and society as they are
interrelated with one another. Furthermore, there was a debate among the
authors which mainly discussed about the disclosures relating to sustainability
in the entire society which was based on theories of legitimacy.
2 What is the method - how do the author(s) convince their readers?
With the different examples of US based multinational organizations, the
annual reports and statistics have been considered in collecting the data.
Furthermore, there was a logical reasoning along with questions which was
conducted from the professional researchers that assisted in keeping proper

balance between the society and stakeholders. The different companies use the
annual reports which helped in dealing with issues related to social environment
which has been used as the data to understand the issue more accurately. With
the usage of the legitimacy and signaling theory, it was seen that there was
contradiction in the results regarding the overall significance along with effects
of the different disclosures.
Furthermore, there was inclusion of the different other theories relating to social
accounting such as Stakeholder theory which helped in clearing the role of the
sustainability disclosures in society. There were different insights provided on
relation between facades and the overall role in managing the conflict of the
shareholders and legitimacy effectively. Additionally, the various section helps
in providing empirical illustration inn analysing how the different ideas of the
organized facades and hypocrisy can become fruitful in the reporting research
of the corporate sustainability.
3 Drawing on your answers from analysing Q (1) and (2), critically analyse and
match your analysis to the rational given in Lecture 1 for Organisational
Analysis
From the overall organizational analysis, it can be identified that the first
section deals with the role of sustainability which is disclosed in society.
Furthermore, there has been inclusion of different hypocrisy and facades which
can be beneficial for the corporate social responsibility related research. Lastly,
the paper ends with proper conclusion along with discussion on the relationship
between accounting, organizations and society.
From the overall organizational analysis through collection of data, it can be

order to improve the different kinds of social and environmental problems
