Leadership and Motivation Theories in Organizational Behavior

Introduction (1 Slide)
 This case study is about the organisational behaviour that in the Thomas valley building
society tony Jackson completed their apprenticeship scheme but left after two year as
there no permanent position available after some time rapid growth in the business so the
Jackson applied and got the job.
 In the organization Jane Taylor had been at the branch for four years as cashier and
mortgage advance, the branch manager of the Thomas valley building society give order
to Jane Taylor to see the Tony Jackson. When the Jackson rejoin so after that Jane got the
new position as senior branch manager, roughly two month later there are some issue
arise between the Jane and Jackson there have a clash of personality also there have no
coordination between them.

Main Part
Issue 1 (Leadership)
 It can be stated that in the success of the any organization the leadership of the team
leader play a vital role. It socially influences the team member and by that increases the
team efforts through that organization achieve the goal.
 In this case study there have a leadership issue Jane Taylor is the assistant
manager in the organization and tony Jackson newly joined the office.
 There have leadership issue arises that no understanding between them and also clash of
the personality, Jackson not want to listen to the Jane and follow the Jane direction.
 Jane Taylor perform their leadership duty very well they arrange workshop and other
training for their employee but the issue is that Jackson is not supportive, directive and
participative and its problem in the achievement of the organizational goal so the Jackson
have to behave well with the employee of the organization and listen to the Jackson so by
that coordinate properly.

Behavioral Theory of leadership
 Behavioural theory of leadership is a focused studies of the leader behaviour it also called
leadership to style approach. It focuses on how the leader act and what they do also it considers the
leader reaction and observable action.
 This theory believe that leader are made not born and proper leadership are learnable, behaviour
and definable. If anyone can know about the certain behaviour implementation it may be an
effective leader.
 The trait theory of the leadership is fully focused on the analysis the
various personality traits and evaluate the different feature that are
connected to better leadership in the different situation. The trait theory of
the leadership is given by the Carlyle and there are various leadership traits

Recommendation (Issue 1)
 There have a personality clash between the Jane and Jackson so
they maintain coordination and establish the good leadership
between the organization
 Jackson should maintain friendly relation across the organization
rather than shouting and embrace the employee
 The Behavioural helps in improving their personality and the
Trait theory of the leadership also helps a lot
 The trait theory of the leadership enhance the decision making
power and leaders are flexible with the all situation.

Issue 2 Motivation
 Motivation is a goal- oriented behaviour that initiates and guides. It is s significant factor of
the any organization that helps in achieving the enterprise goal and motivates the person for
the better performance.
 Tommy Jackson negatively motivates their employee all the employee of the organization
not happy with their behaviour.
 It embraces their employee and also shouts on them. It behaves stupidly with their
employee and because of that behaviour many of the employees leave the organization.
 The Jane positively motivate their employee it boost their moral and directly contact with
the marry rozer for arrange some special training to their employee.

Motivation Theory
 The Maslow’s theory of motivation is given by the Abraham Maslow in the year 1943 this
theory is based on the hierarchy of the needs. This theory believe that by fulfilling the
unsatisfied needs the organization can motivate their employee and for that it is necessary that
first fulfil the lower level need and after that fulfil the upper level needs of the employee.
 Physiological Needs In the Maslow’s hierarchy need theory the first and foremost need is
physiological need. In the Physiological needs includes the most basic need of the human
being to sustain life, like food, water, air, sleep.
 Herzberg’s Two factor Theory:Herzberg’s two factor motivation theory proposed by the
Frederick Herzberg in the year 1959 it includes the motivation factor and the other one
hygiene factor these two factors persuade motivation in the organisation.

Recommendation(Issue 2)
 It recommends that the organization should follow Maslow’s need hierarchy
theory and Herzberg two factor theories.
 It should recommend that the enterprise provide the basic needs to higher level
needs and the Thomas valley building society only motive their employee by
arrange the workshop, training and not motivate by the appreciation and rewards
also provide respect to the employee and maintain equality in the organization.

Issue 3 : Management
It can be stated that management is the process administration and
coordination of the task to fully achieve the organizational objective. It is the
universal process follow by all the organization.
Jane Taylor is a senior assistant manager of the Thomas valley building
society and its duty is to quality and the accuracy for the staff. The
management of the company is not well because the employee wants to leave
the job and also management style of the company is not very effective.

Management Theories
 Human relation management theory it can be abided that human relation management
theory is focus on human relationship and interaction and this theory is proposed by
Professor Elton Mayo.
 By the better human relation achieved the higher motivation and more production. The
manager of the organisation should maintain inter- personal relation with the employee.
 The general and industrial theory of the management is given by the Henri Fayol in
the year 1949. The manager must create the plan in advance and with the help of that
predict organizational future needs. Henri Fayol believed on the certain principle of
management.

Recommendation(Issue 3)
 It recommends that in the organization have the proper management system so
that organization achieve quickly without any problem.
 In the organization should have maintained good relation with the employee so
that feel that give value to them and always encourage the employee for giving
better idea and suggestion.
 It should use the Henri fayol management principle maintain unity of command
and direction and have a proper communication chain.
