P1 Discuss how organisation culture, power and politics influence individual and team
behaviour.
Organisation Culture refers as fundamental of beliefs, values, manner of interaction
with each other which impart to social and psychological environment within business
enterprise. Culture which exists in an organisation involves expectations, principles, experiences
that act as guiding tool in order to govern employees or workers behaviour at workplace. In
terms of personnel self-esteem, internal workings and interpersonal skills with external
surroundings. Culture is made up of collective attitudes, vision, mission, systems, language,
customs, written policies which evolved over time (McShane and et. al., 2018). These culture
exhibits appropriate manner with regard of how someone has to behave within organisation.

Leaders of firm develop certain values and beliefs and enhanced by different methods which
shapes employee understanding and perception.
Handy's Model of Organisational Culture
This model was proposed by Charles Handy which explains classification of different
organisation cultures that has been followed by different organisation in order to influence nature
and behaviour of employees and workers within firm. There are four types of culture which has
their own strengths and weaknesses which impact differently at workplace.
Power Culture: In many companies there are some few individuals who has entire
power of authority in their hands and has full control over decisions and functioning of
business. These person enjoys special treatment at workplace and have authority to
delegate responsibilities to other employees. Authorised person sets policies and rules
that must b be follow by everyone in organisation. If PRIMARK's cultivate this culture at
workplace then it impact adversely over behaviour of individual and teams as employees
have no option or liberty to take initiative or express their thoughts in front of superiors.
This in turn demoralise employee's efforts (Chumg and et.al., 2016).
Role Culture: it is a culture where each individual is assigned with respective roles and
responsibilities on basis of their job positions, skills, qualification so that they put their
best efforts. This type of culture is highly based on rules and established according to
structure of organization with chain of command. In case of PRIMARK, if management
follow this culture then it impact positively on nature of individual employees and team
cause role culture provides security and opportunities to personnel so that they can
explore new things without consulting to their superiors. Employees has authority to
decide what is to be done in their working area. In such culture, power comes along with
responsibilities.
Task Culture: this culture is related with job or project where teams are formed to carry
out specified tasks and activities. In such culture, power is distributed among team
members on basis of status of problem or project. Organisations who are result oriented
maintain this type of culture. In case of PRIMARK, if company make use of this task
culture it influence behaviour of team is positive manner since organisation create
effective teams of those employees who have expertise skills and knowledge. This in turn
enhance productivity level of employees.
