TASK 1
P1 Analyse how an organisation’s culture, politics and power can influence individual and team
behaviour and performance
Behaviour of group or individual both affects a lot to the team and the complete
organisation. Behaviour of each and every human is different from each other. Human works as
asset for every organisation because the work done by them helps the organisations in meeting
their goals. It is also observed that culture, power and politics are the major factor which
influences the human behaviour at various level.
Basically, organisational culture is a combined concept of beliefs, values, psychology and
experience of organisation. It is well known that providing positive organisational culture to
people implies positive result towards their goals. Marks and Spencer has following customer
driven culture. Under which all the employees do focus on enhancing customer satisfaction.
Along with this, they hire right person for right place and provide right training to them (Lu
2018). For the purpose of providing positive organisational culture, M&S is adopting various
practices for communication which is used by organisation to collect, gather and communicating
various information regarding operations. Hofstede’s model helps the management in
understanding the culture of organisation by identifying all attributes and Handy model helps the
management in knowing the reason of working of an employee in an organisation.
From a detailed report, it is also analysed that the employees of Marks and Spencer are behaving
properly with each other. Healthy organisational culture plays an important role in maintaining
individual behaviour. Kitchen said that, starting organisational culture in an organisation implies
negative effect on individual and team behaviour (Karwatzki and et. al., 2017). For the purpose
of achieving market competition, an internal competition will arise which affects the behaviour
of both individual as well as team. This implies negative impact on the performance of
organisation as it effect both individual as well as team behaviour of organisation. When a
company provide positive organisational culture to employees at work place, it gives result in the
control of behaviour of individual which also implies with the interest of individual will prevail
over by the interest of organisation. At the end, it is recommended to the organisations to impress
positive work culture which gave result in the positive team behaviour which include various
individuals which works together as a team by understanding point of view of all employees
