INTRODUCTION
The organizational behavior can be referred to a the study which provides the insight as
of how the employees, staff and executives behave in the workplace. It is also concern with
studying about their performance so that steps can be taken to make enhancement and
improvement in it. It helps the companies to develop the understanding as to how the workforce
can be motivated and by what means their performance can be increased and how trustful and
strong relationships can be built in the workplace with employees. It studies not only the
individual performance but also the group so that knowledge can be applied to see how they
work together as a team (Khan, Khan and Gul, 2019). The company chosen for this report is
Burberry, a leading luxury fashion house which is headquartered in London, UK. This report
shall cover the identification of company’s culture using model, how culture improves
effectiveness with communication and role of culture in motivating employees, further, it will
include the use of culture by organization to enhance the success of it.
MAIN BODY
1. Identify culture in line with a theoretical model for the chosen company.
Organizational culture can be defined as an underlying assumption, belief, ways and
values that is used to interact so that it can contribute in the unique psychological; and social
environment of the company. In simple words, it is the group of some internal behaviors and
values which includes way of thinking, experiences, beliefs and the future expectations. In order
to identify the organizational culture of the firm, Handy’s culture model is being used. This
theoretical framework has divided the culture of the company into four categories so that the one
which is linked and matched to the organization’s values and beliefs (Ahluwalia and Preet,
2017). In relation to Burberry, it is discussed below-
Power- There are many ventures in which the power rests in the hands of fewer people
and only they have the authority to make the decisions. They are regarded as the one who
has special privilege in the workplace. They are considered as an important personnel and
has the power to further delegate their authority and responsibility to other staff members.
In this type of culture, the employees have no option but to listen to their senior’s

instruction. There is no liberty to workforce to express their ideas and views in an open
forum, rather they only have to follow the superior’s order. In such type of culture, the
managers are often partial which may lead to other being unrest.
Task- In type of culture is followed in such organizations where the teams are formulated
and the work is done in it so that they can altogether work to accomplish the business
objectives and solve the complex problems. The teams in such culture are formed on the
basis of common specializations and interests and each team has approximately 5-6
members. In such kind of culture, each employee has to equally contribute work in an
innovative manner to achieve the business objectives (Febriani and Yancey, 2019).
Role- Here, the workers are delegated with some of the roles and responsibilities as per
their educational qualification, specialization an interest so that the best can be extracted
from them. In this, the employees themselves decide what is best for them and what they
can do efficiently. They are willing to accept any challenge. The ownership of the work
that is assigned to them stays with them and they are accountable for their work. Hence,
this culture involves responsibility and power hand in hand. Person- This type of culture involves thinking where the employees believe that they are
way more important than the company for which they are working. In this, the people of
the organization are concerned about themselves than the firm so the company often
takes the back seat and suffers eventually. There is attachment of the employee with the
venture rather they only work to earn money. Hence, this culture involves no loyalty from
the side of workers as they never take decisions in favor of company (Management Study
Guide, 2021).
Burberry is a large organization which has thousands of employees employed in it. It
follows the role culture where the employees work with the customer centric approach and
the work is assigned to each as per their specialization, interest and qualification so that the
best can be brought from them.
2. How culture improves organizational effectiveness with a main focus on communication.
The communication is one the essential element for building the positive culture in the
workplace. There must be transparency in communication so that there can be better
understanding of the work and positive relationship is built among all. Culture is considered as
