INTRODUCTION
Managing style of individual varies in every organisation that is differing according to
functions and principles of organisation. Present report is based on examination of functions and
principle of management that are performed by CEO in BAT. There is analysis of steps
according to organisation structure (Young and Ghoshal, 2016). There is discussion of
leadership style and analysis of power, conflict on the organisation. Further there is analysis of
different motivation types that is used in British American tobacco. According to detailed
analysis there are further recommendations that are drawn related to functioning of organisation
according to suitable leadership style and overall structure.
Examine the management style and state the principle and functions of management CEO of
BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO
JACK Marie henry Bowles is CEO of British American tobacco Plc (Liu, 2019). He was
earlier chairman of British American tobacco franc & managing director at British American
tobacco.
Management style is way that is carried out by a manager in order to achieve predefined
goals and objectives of an organization(Dutot, 2017). Different way to handle managerial
situations by the CEO of British American Tobacco are outline below:
Autocratic or directive management style: In this, decision are taken by the top
management without giving consideration to the opinion of employees(Ahmady,
Mehrpour and Nikooravesh, 2016). In British American Tobacco, CEO is apply the
stated management style as they provide proper direction and keep control over
numerous activities of human resources.
Transactional management style: It refers to provide various rewards to employees to
motivate them( Driskill, 2018). In context of selected company, this management style is
being applied as they are offering bonuses, incentives, awards, and many more to
enhance the productivity of work force.
