INTRODUCTION
Organizational behaviour is that kind of study that is done upon activities that has been
performed by an individual and group within an organization. In other words it can be considered
to be study in a systematic manner of behaviour of persons working in an organization. It is an
refection of behaviour that has been shown by an individual or group of people within the
premises of workplace. This directly impacts structure of job, communication, performance,
leadership management and motivation. Various aspects of an employee and individual help in
establishing of strong relationships with other co employees in an organization. This file is going
to be organisational behaviour in relation to Waitrose is one of the largest retailer in Britain.
Further this report is going to cover culture, politics and power on the performance of an
organization and different motivational theories and also philosophies of organizational
behaviour.
TASK 1
P1 Influence of organization culture, power, and politics on individual and team
performance.
Organizational culture means that power and politics has an impact upon performance of
individual and on team also. Such factors defines about positive and negative effect on growth of
organization(Biswas and Mazumder, 2017).
Influence of power on individual and team
Power is able to reflect an authority which has been given company to an employee.
Mangers has used it to influence and accomplish task in smooth manner. Several authorities has
been given rewards and appraisal for there performance. Various theories are there that has been
used by Waitrose to influence behavior of both individual and team(Borry, 2017). Explained as
follows:

Coercive power- As per this power that has been given to an individual in order to
manage all day to day activities. Waitrose has given this power to its manager for
enhancing of performances.
Reward power- Under this responsibility has been assigned to those who provide
appraisal and promotion, development also.Waitrose has been given power to the board
of directors. Rewards is given to employees(Kauppila and Tempelaar, 2016).
Legitimate power- It is that kind of power that has been given as per experience of
employee.Waitrose has provided his power to CEO to establish proper control on an
company.
Referent power- In this power an influence is created over the behaviour of an
individual in a company.Waitrose has given this power to the leaders and motivate them
to perform there work(Kulkarni, 2016).
Expert power- In this the power has been allotted to those persisting of knowledge on a
particular field.Waitrose has given power to managers to perform various activities with
the company.
Informational power- This power is granted to those who is capable of managing
information of financial reports.Waitrose has been given this power to CEO that is able to
manage reports of finance.
Influence of politics on individual and team
Political behavior is to be reflected upon the property of an individual for taking of valid
decision at right time. Certain decisions has to be made by managers of Waitrose for welfare of
company and they are explained below
Decrease in the productivity- It has been observed that policies are bringing negative
impact over an organization.It can also affect process of accomplishing of target in a
company.
Spoils the Ambience- Politics has brought loss of balance of environment of an
organization and also spoils relationship between employer and employee.

As per this factor an affect has to be made over the value of the company and Waitrose culture is
influenced by employees. This has been explained through Handy’s cultural typology model and
is divided into four parts(Mohiuddin, Z. A., 2017). Explained as follows:
1. Power culture- It is contributed over centralized control. Waitrose works upon large
scale and enhances performance of employee.
2. Role culture- Roles and responsibility are present in it. Only mangers of Waitrose has
been given of assigning of roles.
3. Person culture- Opportunity towards showing of all abilities and Waitrose motivates it
employees to do it(Özduran and Tanova, 2017).4. Task culture- Employee is there to give best and increases enthusiasm of workers of
company. It helps in achieving of targets of a company.
