INTRODUCTIONOrganizational behavior entails for studying the working as well as behavioral traitsshown by employees in any company. To specify further, it is the study of interactions orbehavioral traits shown by people individually or within groups. This type of study is helpful indeveloping efficient organization (French, Rayner, Rees and Rumbles, 2011). Present report hasmade an attempt to study about John Lewis Partnership which is one of the major retail companyof UK (John lewis parthership, 2015). The report has emphasized on developing anunderstanding about structure and culture of John Lewis Partnership as well as the relationbetween the two. Different approaches to management and leadership has also been studied bykeeping special emphasis on John Lewis Partnership. Other than that different techniques relatedto motivation has also been discussed.TASK 11.1 Different types of organizational structure and cultureOrganizational structure: Organizational structure can be determines as a way throughwhich roles, power and responsibilities are assigned, controlled and coordinated so that humanresource could be managed effectively (Robbins, 2009). Helpful in managing all its line of products effectively(Lee and Lawrence, 2013).For example, ABC international is a firm which providesdifferent products to its customers. Products basedstructure is followed by this firm and is helpful inmanaging efficiently.Geographical structureUsed when there is an existence of different businessunits in diverse locations (Lee and Lawrence, 2013). For example, McDonald is a firm which is located inmany regions. It follows geographical structure foreffective management of their firm.Organizational culture: It can be defined as the collective behaviour that is exhibited bypeople that are a part of organization. There are different types of cultures followed by differentorganization (Levy, 2006). Following are few of them which are helpful for the firms:Power culture: According to this culture, one individual is given the power over many. He hasthe power to give orders and guidance to this group. As it was discussed above,John LewisPartnership follows functional organizational structure where departments are controlled bydifferent leaders (Hofstede, 2010). Similarly, these leaders follow power culture so as to attainthe stipulated objectives and goals.Role culture: As per this culture, diverse roles are played by every individual that are to beperformed by them in a timely manner. Firms can also assign similar roles and responsibilities toa particular group. These group has to work together so as to achieve the goals and objectives.For example, groups like marketing, sales, operations, HR, etc. all the these groups are givensimilar roles in order to achieve the goals of the organization.Task culture: In this culture, trams are developed whose focus is to achieve the given taskeffectively. Deadline will be given in which these teams have to complete the given task (Wagnerand Hollenbeck, 2010).2
