ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP 2.1. Discussion of dilemma and ultimate decision. I used to be a reputed employee ofFidelity Investments Company Ltd.; I found that the office was very formal and professional, the basic incentives and fringe benefits were good, but there was a lack of health insurance scheme in the company. At first glance, I was not having any issue with that as I was young and hardly thought of my health concern. As the day passed by and I began to be a working employee within the organization. I found that the number of employees within the organisation fails to maintain their health. Many of the senior citizens of the company were not given any health insurance offer. Besides, the company did not even have an eager to provide such schemes for the benefit of its employee. I found it very rude and thought to consult with the other employees to seek any particular reason that why the company is not providing any health scheme for their employees and I stood forwards and complained the senior authorities regarding insurance scheme to be introduced. As a result, I was out targeted by the senior authorities of the organisation for standing up with a voice and was mostly ignored. But I had a dilemma of whether I will stand for the health scheme, or if this goes on then, I will have to quit my job. I chose the first option and preferred not to run. I kept on communicating with the employees with a hope that together we will make the company bound to introduce such a scheme, today or tomorrow the company will provide. It is their ethical responsibility to have a concern towards their employees. 2.2. The solution suggests a Deontological approach. We consider the dilemma with a Deontological approach, as health insurance scheme is a part of any organization whether it is a small business firm or mediocre business firm. We as an employee have the right to claim our basic needs from the organization. We work hard for the company objectives and the company ignore the importance of care towards us. This cannot be
ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP tolerated, and according to the situation, I found that I need to raise voice for the favourable outcome. 2.3. To what extent the Teleological approach supports ethical choice? Shortly we the employees will get a health insurance plan, which will mostly benefit the senior citizens working within the organization. Moreover, the basic medical needs will be fulfilled by the other segments of the employees. However, when the employee remains fit, then it is an achievement for the company itself in the respect that they will be able to carry out activity in an effective and efficient manner. 2.4. As a leader how my decisions will affect the followers and their performance? As a leadership vision, the employees of the company today and tomorrow will benefit from the insurance scheme plan. The health of the employees will be taken care of. Any future calamities in terms of health issue can be dealt with. Moreover, the company will gain in terms of Brand equity. When the employee yields benefit, he/she will always recall the name of the company. Likewise, their performance and dedication towards the company will increase due to the motivational factor. However, if my voice fails to rise, the company will too focus not only on me but on the followers too, and if the company desires, the company may terminate me along with the followers. If the company found that the termination will result in the elimination of such demand or may undertake any necessary action as suitable according to them.
