INTRODUCTION
Communication is the act of conveying meaning from one person to another through the
use of mutually understood the signs, symbols etc. The main steps inherent to all communication
are: the formation of communication motivation or reason. The present poster will be base on the
Mr. Fishy, Fish and chips restaurant which is establish in Borough market near London. There
are many different culture and different age group people are working together who are British
or Non-British staff. The poster will identify the common challenges and barriers to effective
communication. It will be develop by strategies for overcoming communication barriers. Poster
will demonstrate awareness of culture influences on communication and negotiation.
Common challenges and barriers to effective communication
Communication is important part of conveying messages and emotions to other people in
restaurant. Mr fishy face various problems which are related to communication. These create
misunderstanding between staff and employee.
Language barriers
Language is important factor which create communication barriers for people in order to
understand the messages of others. It is very easy to understand language, but it is difficult to
speaking the same language if they are different generations or from different regions of the
same country. This create a challenge for Mt Fishy to understand message.
Culture differences
The norms of social interaction very greatly in different culture as do the way in which
emotions expressed. Culture difference is challenge and barriers of effective communication
because people are generally use their mother language for speaking. This is the main challenge
for Mr Fishy in their restaurant because there British and Non-British people are working
together for company growth factors.
Information overload
Information overload is take time to process a lot of information too many details are
challenge because providing lots of information to staff is create problem. This is main challenge
and barriers of effective communication in Mr Fishy restaurant. For example: if manager gives
lots of information and details to staff in once time then staff is able to understand that in proper
manner.

Lack of attention and interaction
Lack of attention is the biggest challenge and barriers of effective because of employees
are make proper focus on collecting and listening information. Proper listening is very important
for good communication skill and in order to improve communication skill. Like employee
present but not make proper attention than it create the challenge for effective communication.
Those are challenges and barriers of effective communication in Mr Fishy restaurant at
the time of work.
Develop strategies for overcoming communication barriers
It is very important to overcome communication barriers in effective manner for improve
performance of work in restaurant. Here are showing some strategy to overcome those
communication barriers in proper manner are as follows:
Use visual methods of communication
Words often fails but visual methods are not fails. In terms of explaining something and
conveying message to others, manager can use visual methods of communication. This can be
help to overcome communication barriers in effective manner.
Avoid information overload
Mr fishy should know the priorities their work in restaurant. This will effective strategy
for overcome communication barriers in effective manner. In case of extra information manager
of Mr Fishy have to provide only important and foremost details to staff regarding work. This
help to reduce misunderstanding between staff and manager.
Promote better working relation
Better working relation is help reduce communication barriers form communication
because through employees are able to interact with Non-British people to British language. This
encouraging the staff to communicate with each other in more effectively.
Use of simple language
Use of simple and clear words should be emphasized and have to avoid jargon from
communication process. Simple language is like generally use by whole country which is
English. Manager can use this language for conveying message to others in proper manner. This

Demonstrate awareness of culture influences on communication and negotiation
The effect of culture on communication and negotiation can be divided into intercultural
and cross culture which is compared by culture characteristics. The intercultural negotiation
refers the negotiations with one own culture.
Negotiation
The culture is impact to negotiation can be categorised into the intercultural and cross
culture compared along culture characteristics. The intercultural negotiation reefers to
negotiation within the one own culture. Other hand, cross culture refers the concerns negotiation
between individual form the different culture. Culture gives impact on negotiation and this will
create by lack of interaction between people. For example: in Mr fishy restaurant have British
and Non-British people who are work together and they are not interact with others than they are
not help to others. They are not give any guidance and instructions for work.
Communication
Culture is influence to communication because of different culture and rituals. This
influence how people communicate, both verbally and non-verbally, directly and indirectly and
al;so through body language. Every culture and country people have their own language for
conveying messages to others. This creates by language and culture differences of people.
Culture difference is like one staff is not from local market they work internationally. This can
be affect to communication process in negative manner.
CONCLUSION
This poster had been concluded by the communication has very important part of life in
order to communicate messages to others in proper manner. Language barriers, culture difference
and overload information has the common challenges and barriers to effective communication
process. That had been create problem and issues for company growth by creating
misunderstanding. Poster had also developed by strategies for overcoming communication
barriers through using simple communication language. Culture had been influenced to
communication and negotiation of peoples in negative manner because lack of interacting
peoples and lack of knowledge regarding culture and language.
