Overview
Palliative care is well-defined as the practice that improves patient’s quality of life
and their relatives facing the problem associated to the life-intimidating disease, by the
prevention and reprieve of suffering by mean of initial identification, and faultless evaluation
and the management of pain and other problems, mental, physical and mystical. Palliative
care provides a release from the discomfort and other different worrying disease indications.
It ensures the superiority of life and integrates mystical and emotional aspects of care.
Palliative care is also perceived as the health care activity that treats the diseased person
intending to care for them, and not just decreasing their anxiety, stress or pain (Meier &
Brawley, 2011). The curative care issue comes up when the diseased person has a terminal
illness and is in view of hospice care. the patient diagnosed with a terminal illness like cancer
can choose for curative care. Both the palliative care and curative play a key role in the
effective and quality care to the patients and becomes an integral part of health care settings.
Both the services are different but both focus on the quality care of the patient (Gardiner et
al., 2011). In this particular report, the difference and similarities in curative and palliative
care will be discussed.
Palliative care and curative care
Palliative care is provided to improve the eminence of life of a diseased person
diagnosed with a chronic health issue such as malignancy. Palliative care is the way to deliver
effective carefulness that helps the patient completely, not just the health issue. The main
goal of palliative care is to manage, as prompt as likely, the disease signs and the adverse
impacts of the disorder and its management. Additionally, to any associated mental, societal,
and spiritual issues, the particular type of care is also termed as comfort care, supportive care,
and symptom management (Schulman-Green & Jeon, 2013). The diseased person may

commonly delivered by palliative care experts, health care professionals who have skills,
training, or certification in this type of care. The palliative care specialist provides holistic
care to the diseased person and their family member on concentrating on the bodily,
emotional, societal and spiritual problems experienced by the cancer patients. Often, the
health care professional specializing in palliative care work as the multidisciplinary
healthcare team that might involve physicians, nurses, registered nutritionists, pharmacists,
chaplains, mental health specialists, and social workers. Palliative care is an essential part of
the patient care that is involved along with the management to slow, prevent, or cure the life-
threatening disease. Different researchers identified that palliative care can be started soon
after the learn about their health issues. curative care also called curative medicine is
recognized as the health care provided for critical medical situations where the cure is
recognized achievable, or even the probably so, and focused to the end. curative care implies
to the treatment of a clinical pathology such that the diseased person becomes free from the
health issue (Epstein et al., 2012). Curative care can have many other forms; however, all
have similar goals. Characteristically, when a diseased person receives the curative type of
care, it is a mark that there is an acceptance that the patient might potentially improve, or will

Comparison
Both the palliative and curative care have different similarities. In the health care sectors,
both types of care are becoming an integral part of the system. The recipient of care involved
in the curative and palliative can be any person diagnosed with serious illness. Both palliative
and curative care can be delivered in the healthcare as well as clinics. Although the objectives
of both palliative and curative care are dissimilar, providing effective care and patient
satisfaction is the mutual goal of both types of care. The health teams assigned to provide
palliative or curative care involve nurses, physicians, behavioral health/mental health, and
other different types of specialists founded on the specific requirements of every patient (van
Laarhoven et al., 2011). Palliative care and curative care share a common agenda of
improving end life experience of the patient. Palliative and Curative cares are therapeutic care
that is delivered to patients with severe illness and both types of care linked with life and
death problems. Involving the family members of patient in the decision-making procedure
associated wot the treatment becomes an essential part of disease management. While
providing palliative or curative this essential step is followed by the health care providers.
Both these services can also be provided at the patient's home by a specialist health care
team. Another similarity between palliative a curative is that both the services sustain life,
and concern disappearing as the normal procedure. Both the services are appropriate for all
diseased persons regardless of diagnosis, age or setting. Both services provide comfort to the
patient (Kaur & Mohanti, 2011). Patient-centered care is followed in both palliative and
curative care as it lies as the center of both practices. In both types of care, health care
professionals like nurses play a key role in the effective3 provision of quality carefulness and
required to address the patient with respect and empathy. They must ask the patient and their
family member about their preferences related to the treatment. The therapeutic relationship

is recognized as one of the compulsory aspects of healthcare as it allows health interaction
and helps the client to be actively involved in the treatment process and support in the
assessment. Both palliative care and curative, health care professionals like nurses expected
to develop a therapeutic association with the patients and the families (Schroeder & Lorenz,
2018).
Differences
Although both palliative and curative care similar in different ways some differences
must be recognized by nursing students or other healthcare professionals who are new in the
practice. The difference and similarities must also be recognized by the patient and their
family associates to understand how they can receive effective and proper care for their
health problems (Gielen et al., 2012). The individuals receiving palliative care or curative
care and their family experience lots of problems while suffering from the severe disease and
they sometimes do not recognize how to treat the health issue and what which disease
management strategy is favorable for the affected person, they must select the palliative type
of care or they shall select the curative care. Both Palliative and Curative cares are
therapeutic care that is delivered to patients with severe disease. Both cares is linked with the
issues of life and death. Nonetheless, currently, palliative care is concentrated on releasing
the pain and anxiety. In contrast, curative care is concentrated on curing a particular medical
problem of a diseased person. Palliative care and Curative care Both can be delivered to

and Palliative type of care. In relation with palliative care, it is recognized as a particular

aim of this kind of care is to advance the quality of life of patient by helping to get reprieve
from the pain and anxiety and strain of a stern disease. A curative type of care is a particular

settings like hospitals and clinics are now integrating and giving priority to palliative and
curative care. Palliative care discusses as a way that enhances the eminence of life of a
diseased person. A curative type of care is used when the patient has a fatal ailment and
currently in the view of receiving health care. Both have some similarities and differences.
Curative and palliative care both are similar in the type of recipient involved in the care. Both
curative and palliative care can be delivered in the healthcare as well clinic. Both types of
care include physician, nurse, behavioral or mental health specialist, etc. both the treatment

options affirm the patient's life, and regard dying as the usual process. There are some
variances amid curative and palliative care. The main goal of curative care is to cure the
disease, on the other hand, palliative care is intended to enhance the quality of patient's life
while living with severe health issues. Curative care is all about providing active treatment of
the health issues (for example operation), on the other hand, palliative care comprises
