INTRODUCTION
Palliative care is specialized the medical care of patient and family members those who
willingly living with the dangerous illness. This type of care must be focused on the providing
the best services by nurse and other specialist so that patient feel relief from the stress and
symptoms of illness. The primary goals is to improve the stress level, life of patient and its
family members. The palliative care provides by the trained doctors, specialists and nurse those
who work together with different patients and support within extra layer of care. It is based on
the requirement of patient, not the prognosis. Palliative care is an appropriate at any stage and
age in the serious illness. This documentation will describe the roles and responsibilities of nurse
working in hospice and palliative care. It will discuss that how palliative nurse provide the
support of patient those who will face changes.
MAIN BODY
Overview:
Palliative care plays important role in the long-term benefits and advantage of health
care. For every patient who experience the symptoms of serious diseases such as pain, aging etc.
In this way, it provides the palliative care which help for relief the pain of patient and also
improve the living quality (Barnett, Martin & Garza, 2019). The palliative care is helping for
reduce the level of symptoms that causes discomfort to the patient. There are some common
symptoms generated regarding the illness such as Parkinson’s, Cancer and diabetes etc. it can
lead the patient to seek health care. Apart from that it requires the support of nurses which makes
transition process. It become easier for every patient and their family members, who will face
problem related health. palliative care generally concerns on relief the symptoms and curing
dangerous disease.
Roles and responsibilities to the Nurses in terms of Palliative/hospice care.
Nurses plays important role in terms of palliative and hospice care. It can be identified
the conventional responsibilities for recording and observing symptoms. They can provide
emotional help to ill patient and their family members. Nurses are considered the supporters
which guide patients by using effective therapy and process of communication. Whenever
patient can verbalize their own feelings (Beckstr and& et.al., 2019). Nurse always try to guide
them of giving wisdom which would alleviate their own sufferings. The patients have such hope
that require uplifting the actual aspects of life where many nurses sacrifice themselves to impart

their skill and knowledge matter between death or life. Nurses being treat their patient as a
parents and siblings because they can show the feeling and sympathy towards dying people.
Nurse always considered the primary care provider that can resolve the problem and checking
that everyone is in good health. There are many patients feel insecure and cries out of pain so
that nurse respond immediately by providing care (Cross, 2019). Nowadays, Patients are
expected more immediate respond and alternative care from nurse rather than specialist doctors
because nurse shows closeness during illness. Specialist doctors always busy within schedule
they don’t have time. In this way, nurses are providing health care services to the patient’s life at
the time of emergency case.
Palliative care has been performed the different types of task that support for patient in
the long-term advantages related health (Philip & et.al., 2019). It may include monitoring the
current symptoms over time otherwise it will increase chances of death. It must ensure the proper
care of patient health on regular basis.
Palliative care nurses are working for providing the better services to the patient while adhere the
proper medication schedules and protocols. It is directly maintaining the communication between
nurses, doctors and patients. Therefore, many patients required support with the mobility and
nurse of palliative care which always assists them for maintaining every task and physical
activities of patient (Gijsberts & et.al., 2019). Nurses also monitor the activities of patient so that
it easily determines their improvement needs. It can use the equipment’s for monitoring the
activities of patients and also assist with the personal care requirements such as feeding, bathing
and so on. In most of cases, Palliative care nurses support the patient and their family members
where they can feel comfortable or safe (Rawlings & et.al., 2019). For Example- Rose William is
diagnosed with liver cancer and recommended to take session of chemotherapy and other type of
radiation. She knows about chemotherapy that make feel horrible and painful.
Afterwards, she was referred to use palliative care for determine symptoms and also receive the
best treatment of her. The social worker and nurses help for providing direction to recover
illness. After few days, it can be identified that rose has six months to live their life so that it
refers to the hospice care and come to rose home or continue the treatment with expertise
(Mazanec & et.al., 2019). The palliative team started their work to identify the symptoms.
Hospice care support rose to fulfill their dreams and spend time within peaceful environment.

Apart from that the hospice nurses are becoming specialist in the field of nursing because it
is well trained and closely work with the serious patients. They can play important role in the
case of patient, who are nearing critical condition. To play an important role but hospice nurses
also requires some experience and training that can take some decision. A hospice nurse working
in the patient’s home and provide holistic care, who are nearing the end of death. Instead of
giving the best care and treatment on the basis of complication or illness.
When the patient caring in the clinical center, nurse will manage illness and pain. It also
identified the need and requirement of patient through palliative care but when caring for patient
in home, they also take care and perform all duties related health care. It may include cooking,
cleaning and errands running for the patients (McMillan, 2019). In this way, all type of hospice
nurse support family’s member and give their full support in difficult situations. The patient in
hospice care usually are expected to live their life less than 4-6 month. When they are providing
treatment at home where nurse, specialist and families look but they can choose the best
specialize center for hospice care and also offered nurses at hospitals or homes. This type of care
includes not only specialist doctors and nurse but families, social workers, clergy perform task
that easily address emotions and grief of losing someone.
RECOMMENDATION
It can be found that Palliative and hospice care will help for patients to improve or recover
the serious illness. Many peoples are suffering from chronic diseases so that it requires for
improving palliative care. It has been recommended to design the different chronic
diseases/cancer centres which help for identifying the initial symptoms where palliative care help
for both children’s and adults. This type of centre will deliver the better quality of care and give
training to nurses so that they can take care of patients and their families. It also developing the
program that easily adopted by other hospitals (Franklin & et.al., 2019). Health administrator
help for funding demonstration project that provide the services and delivery. It mainly integrates
with palliative care for giving the best treatments or care to patient related serious illness. In
circumstances, nurses need to interact with dying children and their families regarding health
care. It should be taken into setting level of reimbursement that actually paying claim for
particular services. It has recommended activities that include in the Palliative care of patients.
It can perform evaluation and formal testing of existing or new practices which support
for palliative and end of life.

It will use innovation for delivering the palliative care and always try to maintain
collaboration with the hospice.
It needed to create the development program faculty of social work, nursing and many
more.
Hospitals and other clinical centre will give the accurate information about chronic
diseases treatment, health insurers. It should revise the inventories of oriented materials
and correct details about the palliative care. It reliable for patient to know stage of
diseases and information on survival (Vierhout & et.al., 2019).
CONCLUSION
As per discussion, it concluded that Palliative and hospice cares always supports the patients
to cure their diseases and patient’s feel safe. It has been summarised that nurses plays specific
role for providing the best health care services and also monitor the physical activities of
patients. Furthermore, it has found that specific roles and responsibilities of nurse working in
hospice and palliative care. It also determined that how palliative nurse provide the support of
patient those who are facing health problem issues.
