Introduction
The principal of palliative care is addressing, in perspective, spiritual and emotional
suffering that patients undergo. Palliative care involves use of strategies both internal and
external to cope with the management of patients. Early integration of palliative care and under
the right strategies provides improved results in health of patient. Understanding of current
nursing cooperation calls for strategies to improve skills. The strategies include social support
with families and friends and organizational support. When taking care of terminally ill patients,
nurses need to put themselves in a patient’s shoe and come up with appropriate strategies for
care. They should understand the ethics of major palliative care and intropunitive team-based
methodologies to palliative care before takin any step. Nurses need to pay attention to terminally
ill patient so as the four major areas of a patient are addressed. I.e. conceptual, coziness, spiritual
and practical tasks.
Releasing shortness of breath is indispensable high precedence nursing strategy.
Shortness of breath is a condition where one is not able to get enough air. It is medically referred
to as dyspnea, the condition is described as a serious constriction in the chest or feeling
suffocated. The condition mostly arises due to heart and lung conditions, likewise, too much acid
in the body builds up breathing rate and perception of shortness of breath. Acute shortness of the
complication may be caused by heart attack. Allergic reactions, carbon monoxide poisoning and
failure in COPD. Like in the case of study, Mrs. Brown is affected with failure in COPD which
results in her shortness in breathing. Holistic palliative support care provision entails planning
ahead to close family members regarding control of the problem in case it arises. This will

ensure all close members know the right step to take in case Mrs. Brown fails to breath. Planning
ahead involves equipping them with procedures that help control the breathing.
The goal of the strategy is to decrease the energy of breathing and help attain a sense of
control over breathing in Mrs. Brown. Mrs. Planning ahead is an important coping strategy.
Sorting out Mrs. Brown’s strategies will help achieve her goal. She should spread her activities
in a given duration and avoid doing a couple of things at ago. She should do things that will
conserve energy and reduce physical energy that might worsen her breathing difficulty. Planning
ahead will ensure patients engage in activities that will reduce breathing problems (Bourbeau,
2017) . Doing household tasks, resting, taking a shower to feel relaxed are such activities that
can reduce breathing difficulties.
Morning cough is a symptom observed in the early stages of COPD. Planning ahead in
dealing with such cases is takin measures that can reduce the cough. Recommending medications
is a palliative care measure that can prevent such. A nurse can recommend taking of green tea,
taking enough water and sucking on lozenges. Drink water will ensure that Mrs. Brown who is
our case study remains hydrated. Drinking non-sugary fluids helps the body to maintain produce
enough mucus. Taking in enough fluid, however, does not end coughing but rather reduces it.
It is evident from the case study that Mrs. Brown is diagnosed of depression.
Depression is an attitude disorder that causes an obstinate feeling of sadness and loss of
attention. It is also known as major depression disorder. The condition affects how one thinks,
feels and can result to a physical complications and emotional issues. The condition makes the
victims feel it is not worth living. Depression requires long-term treatment. Holistic palliative
support care for Mrs. Brown in this case will involve hospice. Hospice care increases quality of
