2. Invitation Paragraph
You are being invited to participate in a student research study. Be-
fore you decide whether to participate, it is important for you to un-
derstand why the research is being done and what it will involve.
Please take time to read the following information carefully and feel
free to ask us if you would like more information or if there is any-
thing that you do not understand. Please also feel free to discuss this
with your friends, relatives and GP if you wish. We would like to stress
that you do not have to accept this invitation and should only agree

3. What is the purpose of the study?
The purpose of this study is for the student researcher to complete an
assignment for their postgraduate programme in Psychology. The
purpose of the assignment is gaining skills in qualitative research.
The student researcher will ask you some questions regarding a con-
temporary social issue. The topic should be easy and comfortable for
you to talk about with the student researcher. This topic must not be
upsetting or uncomfortable for you in any way.
4. Why have I been chosen to take part?
You have been chosen to take part because you are a family member
or friend of the student researcher. You should be over 18 years of
age and you should not be a member of any of the following groups:
adults with learning disabilities, adults with dementia, prisoners, or
any other vulnerable or sensitive group. If you are unsure about
whether you are a member of a vulnerable or sensitive group, please
